Staying in my parents house, but they have LED bulbs in the lamps. Not comfy, so what's the best Kelvin temperature I should use in their incandescent bulb replacements?

Soft white unless you want to fuck over your sleep cycle.
Warm seems nice until you realize that living inside a baroque painting isn't worth not knowing what color anything is.

2700K is the lowest commonly available. It's cozy like a low wattage incandescent. That would be my choice. 3500K is neutral and 5000K is harsh daylight white.
>>
>>108088504
Good call, the ones in the lamp now are 5000K LEDs, and it's flip switch to start headache.
>>
>>108088536
2700K is what I went with, was the first I found so I'm going to try it out.
thanks anoons
>>
>>108088490
Why are higher temperature LEDs cooler anyway?
>>
>>108088490
soft white

anything cool white is thirdie coded btw

When stuff is hot it radiates photons (black body radiation). The hotter it is, the higher energy the photons. Something that isn't that hot radiates primarily infra red. Somethjng that is hotter, like the sun, primarily emits visible light. Even hotter and you get ultra violett.

The redder colours have less energy per photon than the blue ones. Humans perceive that light as "warm" because its associated with fire. But as stuff gets hotter it becomes bluer (higher energy photons).

Shifting ones that match the day pattern.

Else you wanna match it with the usage.

Kitchen, Bathroom, Shower Toilet. You want as high as possible to get realistic colors. You don't want to think you have blood in your stool or urine because the light makes your urine look very red yellowish. You don't want weird light in your kitchen you wanna tell what color the meat and fruit are to avoid eating spoiled or moldy foods.

Theres also a thing called CRI, Color Rendering Index you want 90 for the above and 80 for the other rooms.

Go as low as you're comfortable with for the bedroom.
And a bit higer for the living room.

Basically any places you're expected to stay at night or doesn't have any windows.

Same reason candles are blue flames in the middle. Thats the hottest part and as it spreads it gets cooler.

Same reason your gas flames are blue and get reddish or yellow when they are sprinkled with water or you place a cold pan on the stove. Or when there not enough oxygen etc..

for me its 2700-3000 in my rooms
and 6000 in kitchen and bathroom
anyway you can buy cheap ikea bulb that can go from 2700 to 6000K if you want to change it
>>
>>108088490
Somewhere in the 3700-3900K range is ideal for cozy spaces
>>
>>108088490
Why replace incandescent, they just work.
LEDs (95+CRI) are only good for rooms like a kitchen or workshop where you need a LOT of bright light. In bedrooms, dining rooms, bathrooms lighting doesn't need to be super bright and is only on while the room is in-use.

Don't listen to LED shills tell you that "80CRI is good enough", it isn't.
For LED to even come remotely close to rivaling an incandescent you need to buy ones with 95+ CRI and a broad spectrum of light emission. You also need to buy ones that have their own integrated rectifier circuits for eliminating all flicker, which means expensive bulbs.

warm is good if you luck having sex unironically, when women "want the lights off" they actually want firelight
>>
>>108093331
i only have sex ironically
>>
>>108093337
I should have used more grammar, that's on me
>>
2200K and lower - extra warm mood/accent lighting
2700K-3000K general use warm light for rooms
3500K-4000K clean neutral white for bathrooms and workspaces
anything above that is specialised use or mental illness

>>108092885
the fuck kind of lamps even exist in that retard range?
>>
>>108093331
>if you're having sex
GTFO normalfag. This site isn't for people like you.
>>
>>108093411
checked
also I didn't say I was having sex
>>
>>108093422
Understood.
I suspect your speculation might be right, as all humans love the comfiness of firelight. Whenever I turn on my 20watt incandescent at night, It feels very good.
>>
>>108088490
Between 3000K and 4000K. Personally I find 3000K slightly too warm.
>>
>>108088490

>>
>>108088490
never ever go over 4000k there is absolutely no situation that will arise in your or anybody else's house that will justify it it's a complete scam 1000 to 3000 is your living room dining room bedroom 3000 to 4000 is offices kitchens bathrooms unless you want a very cozy bathroom over a practical one that one's down to preference I'd say
>>108088584
2700K is a good call
>>
Why Boomers love the dentist office colour for LED lights at home?
My uncle loves setting them to like 8500K it feels like I'm in a fucking waiting room
>>
>>108096944
My dad too I can't stand coming back home I try to stay the hell outta there any time the sun's out. And also having lights constantly on when it does get dark how do you not know the layout of the house you've been in for 30 years is just so insane to me. We have 5(8) lights in the kitchen in the house I've grew up in and they are all on as soon as the clouds start turning orange even if no one's in there or if they're just eating toast or whatever it's awful
>>
>>108096980
yeah he turns on all the fucking lights in the fucking house and leaves them on until he goes to bed
sometimes even after he goes to bed he'll leave the lights on
Drives me mental
