You might be right, which is funny because JavaScript is more complicated than Python
>>
For some reason there are only a few desktops i don't feel the need to immediately tweak:
macOS
Windows
Ubuntu
WindowMaker
CDE
GNOME
Old Raspberry Pi from like 10 years ago
My eyesight isn't great so desktops like
KDE
XFCE
look terrible to me. Their UI elements are too small and trying to tweak it just makes a mess.

besides having to enable rpm fusion it works perfectly right out of the box and i didn't have to tinker with it at all. I know that's not what everyone want's in a linux distro.
>>
>>108095922
meh, i could go for a bit more simplicity these days - getting all the power, cpu and gpu stuff right in arch can be a pain. Never quite get the same on battery experience as more ootb options
>>
>>108095963
Try CachyOS anon. It's everything you're describing but already done for you, and it has AUR and pacman.
>>

nothing in particular. Arch was fine and for a while I thought it was the only option, but i didn't enjoy the experience that much so I switched back to win10 ltsc. Recently i got a framework 13 laptop and i wanted to put linux on it. The only officially supported distros were ubuntu and fedora so i choose fedora and the experience was wonderful, everything just worked.

That 國 is completely different
Simplified characters were made to eliminate culture by filthy commies
>>
>>108097020
Sorry, you’re right. But simplified is the best way to communicate with others
>>
>>108097267
Depends on who you want to talk to. It would be best to learn both so you could talk to more people. Everyone in Taiwan and Hong Kong use traditional.
>>
>>108097345
An I see where you’re coming from. I’m more interested in mainland china, so that’s probably why I’m only really being exposed to simplified
>>
>>108097360
Fair enough. I think there's enough in Taiwan and Hong Kong that's worth learning traditional for though. Plus, things from China pre-simplifcation would be easily readable.
I don't know why I'm such a sperg about it but I feel leaving Taiwan and Hong Kong culture out would only limit someone who wanted to learn. There's plenty of other languages within China and Taiwan, like Cantonese or Taiwanese that are not mutually intellegible with Mandarin. Very much worth looking into though stuff that's not in Mandarin can be harder to find since it's not at the forefront of "Chinese" culture.
Hell, even the mandarin in Taiwan is different (though still mutually intellgible).
I would be happy to share resources if you want.
>>
>>108097414
It sounds like you can be very helpful to those going to Hong Kong or Taiwan. Did you ever live there?
Right now my plan is to save money while I get certified as an English teacher. Then I’ll get a work visa for somewhere in mainland china. Only a few more months until I’ll be ready to move!
>>
>>108097481
If you'd like to talk more I'd be happy to add you on discord or something. Learning from another learner can be very helpful.
My only gripe with China is its government and how they treat their people. Otherwise, China is cool.
I have not lived in Taiwan long term, but I'm going to next year. I've been talking with people from there and even got to meet some friends from there when I went for a week. Would be very happy to share photos and whatnot.

I agree. So far my compromise has been to use a window title widget in conjunction with the global menu such that even if no global menu is available, the name of the focused process is still listed.
