>>108089951Andrew is a control freak schizo. He uses Gentoo.
I love plasma
>>108088795Hello, /g/.
Jordan = big donkey.
>>108090316at least make the console background light mode too
>>108088795That's really funny because C++ and Java are better languages that require more skill than PythonPython is literally baby's first language
>>108090889>Python is literally baby's first languageI thought it was javascript?
>>108090316it'd be nice if there were a way to make the global menu permanent
>>108090895>>108088795why would anyone use anything other than arch in current year?anyone else watching winter olympics in bed?

Hi
>>108090902You might be right, which is funny because JavaScript is more complicated than Python
For some reason there are only a few desktops i don't feel the need to immediately tweak:macOSWindowsUbuntuWindowMakerCDEGNOMEOld Raspberry Pi from like 10 years agoMy eyesight isn't great so desktops likeKDEXFCElook terrible to me. Their UI elements are too small and trying to tweak it just makes a mess.
>lmao I blanked the wrong one lolooo
>>108090895Nice setup, I'd make the inactive text a bit brighter but that's just me>analord 2based>>108093556A fellow 5:4 Q3A enjoyer, nice theme
>>108088795Simplified characters are cringe
>>108094547Traditional uses the same characters…
>>108089951I don't see andrew being really techy, so i think he'd just use mint and call it a day.
>>108091287>>108091290I used to use arch, but now i've switched to fedora and even though i kinda miss pacman I'm happy with my decision.
>>108094504>Nice setup, many thanks. and yours looking great too, as always>I'd make the inactive text a bit brighterperhaps.
>>108088795hi ferns
Are you china pilled yet?
>>108095198thats it, pacman and the aur are just irreplaceable imo, what do you like about fedora?
Werking here falks
>>108095844besides having to enable rpm fusion it works perfectly right out of the box and i didn't have to tinker with it at all. I know that's not what everyone want's in a linux distro.
>>108095922meh, i could go for a bit more simplicity these days - getting all the power, cpu and gpu stuff right in arch can be a pain. Never quite get the same on battery experience as more ootb options
>>108095963Try CachyOS anon. It's everything you're describing but already done for you, and it has AUR and pacman.
>>108095198not them but what made you switch?
>>108088795It's good to post in another desktop thread with you all.
>>108096240nothing in particular. Arch was fine and for a while I thought it was the only option, but i didn't enjoy the experience that much so I switched back to win10 ltsc. Recently i got a framework 13 laptop and i wanted to put linux on it. The only officially supported distros were ubuntu and fedora so i choose fedora and the experience was wonderful, everything just worked.
Hello /g/, I'm completely new to computers in general. Figuring it all out and having fun
>>108096505>January 19any newer screenshot?>>108096582good paper and pick, good luck.>>108096513got it, i was on fedora until november too. it'd be my pick if i needed newer packages, it just work.
>>108095505kateumara?
>>108096861Would
>>108090889Python is crap but is very easy to shit out throwaway solutions for small problems thanks to the insane amount of libraries you can reuse. Now that UV fixed the shitshow of using them.
>>108094575>中国人中國人 That 國 is completely differentSimplified characters were made to eliminate culture by filthy commies
>>108097020Sorry, you’re right. But simplified is the best way to communicate with others
>>108097267Depends on who you want to talk to. It would be best to learn both so you could talk to more people. Everyone in Taiwan and Hong Kong use traditional.
>>108097345An I see where you’re coming from. I’m more interested in mainland china, so that’s probably why I’m only really being exposed to simplified
>>108097360Fair enough. I think there's enough in Taiwan and Hong Kong that's worth learning traditional for though. Plus, things from China pre-simplifcation would be easily readable. I don't know why I'm such a sperg about it but I feel leaving Taiwan and Hong Kong culture out would only limit someone who wanted to learn. There's plenty of other languages within China and Taiwan, like Cantonese or Taiwanese that are not mutually intellegible with Mandarin. Very much worth looking into though stuff that's not in Mandarin can be harder to find since it's not at the forefront of "Chinese" culture. Hell, even the mandarin in Taiwan is different (though still mutually intellgible). I would be happy to share resources if you want.
>>108097414It sounds like you can be very helpful to those going to Hong Kong or Taiwan. Did you ever live there? Right now my plan is to save money while I get certified as an English teacher. Then I’ll get a work visa for somewhere in mainland china. Only a few more months until I’ll be ready to move!
>>108097481If you'd like to talk more I'd be happy to add you on discord or something. Learning from another learner can be very helpful. My only gripe with China is its government and how they treat their people. Otherwise, China is cool. I have not lived in Taiwan long term, but I'm going to next year. I've been talking with people from there and even got to meet some friends from there when I went for a week. Would be very happy to share photos and whatnot.
>>108088795Too basic, 'clean', ew.Here's a real /g/entooman desktop!
>>108089951Qubes.
>>108097528Thanks for the offer, but I’ll pass. I also have a friend who has lived in Taiwan before and really enjoyed it. I will probably travel while I’m there, and I’ll hit up Taiwan and Hong Kong if possible. Hope you enjoy your stay next year!
>>108097581That's a shame but no worries. Thank you! I hope you enjoy your time in China as well.
wow this website is awful
>>108091088I agree. So far my compromise has been to use a window title widget in conjunction with the global menu such that even if no global menu is available, the name of the focused process is still listed.
