Windows 12 has been announced. It's 95% Rust and security focused

>wasm shim
wasm is dogshit
I can't believe how shit everything is and you're all okay with it like, "yeah, this is fine" as flames flare up around you and your future dies.
>>
>>108090104
This will change the world
>>
>>108090117
It's a sandboxing OS that supports all the major players so wasm makes sense to include.
>>
Sorry, but I'm not gonna use it ;^)
>>
>>108090117
still better than js
>>
>>108091255
Thats the thing!
WASM doesnt work without js. WASM by itself cant interact with anything. It needs a JS layer. And the JS sits everywhere where it's relevant for security. WASM cant change DOM and cant hook into events.

But idiots keep promoting it becuase they think it replaces js.
>js is bad, this is something different, so it must be good
Ignorance is driving this propaganda.
>>

>WASM doesnt work without js.
>It needs a JS layer.
Only true in browser, retard, and that's primarily because Google and Firecock refuses to adopt it properly.

Outside of browsers you can make a WASM runtime in any language, and there already are quite a few. WASM has far far more use cases outside of browsers since majority of languages can easily be compiled down into WASM bytecode. If you can't reason why that's good then you're a lost cause, jeet.
>>
>>108091355
Then why do you compare it to JS you retarded fuck?
Why would you code in C or RUST and then compile to WASM and then run it in a runtime that is again written in... "any language"?
It still needs something to interact with, because it can't get user input, can't print something, can't do anything on its own.

Fucking dishonest bullshit. This is modern /g/, where some ignorant uninformed retard says something, then gets told that he is wrong and then doubles down on it by looking for some weird edge cases that doesnt even make any sense.
>they refuse to implement it properly
What is there to implement? What is inside the specification that they miss? What is there that would magically make it capable to run on its own without needing more code written in JS that it executes itself?

what will it take for C/C++ niggers to finally comprehend that no one is using their language for new projects from now on? It's not like you will have no job C/C++ is the new cobol you will always have a job so i don't know why you even care so much.

this is not the 70's anymore.

>we refuse to write header files
>we refuse to deal with cmake and the 10 other non-functional, non-standard build systems
>we refuse to use a language that doesn't care about how libraries are going to be shared (this also kills odin, zig and all the other shitlangs). "but muh supply chain attack mommmy". overblown + worth it.

C/C++ refused to fix these fundamental issues for the last 50 to spend that time doing useless shit instead (still can't split a string btw) and we are done waiting.

strtok
everything else is correct though

x86 already has a sandboxing mechanism with rings and segments, but C/C++trannies wanted to pretend it was a "user/kernel mode" PDP-11. Multics used rings for sandboxing.

The extent MS goes through to ensure they have their backdoored garbage running on your PC, even as some underlying arbitrator, is hilarious.
If I want a sandbox OS, I'll run Qubes.
Being security focused implies having no MS vibecoded pajeetware come even near your machine.

MS literally invented Embrace, Extend, Extinguish

Shared libraries are better than downloading a neverending flood of microdependencies. They're shit. If you need a bespoke, canonical microlibrary to solve every little fucking thing, it should be included in the standard library. Rust is dogshit because they made their standard library as small as possible to be maximally hipster and webshitter friendly.
>>
this looks oriented towards cloud providers and data centers that want to host vms and containers
>>
>>108091627
cmake is so annoying to use that I'll take anything that kills it even if it is vibecoded trash
>>
>>108090117
Isn't it Rust shit with Wasm bindings? AFAICS normal Rust programs don't get compiled down to wasm, but just to native.

putting wasm support anywhere but in a web browser is idiotic
