yep. which is exactly why i didn't bother buying a new phone after my Mi 8 started acting out, and actually deliberately downgraded to a low-end OEM-running Samsung.
i'm older than the generations that can't live without checking their phones every 5 minutes anyway, so i decided to just not give a fuck anymore, and keep my phone usage to minimal, which is not far from what i was already doing anyway.
that was before the recent announcements from Google about their plans to lock down Android, which just proved the correctness of my choices.
