no.

Sandbox it and move on with your miserable life.

ffmpeg is pretty capable, but you need to research and learn commands and the order of operations. It is old enough that all that information is incredibly easy to come across. You'll learn as you go, but I suggest keeping a text file of often used command line operations.
The fanciest I have gotten with ffmpeg is adding an overlay image as a watermark, but if you need special effects you might want to find a program focused on convenient effect application.

nice dubs
>>
>>108100332
depends what you're doing if you're just doing a specific encoding and a single crop/cut ffmpeg is fine but if you're doing complicated editing with lots of clips ffmpeg is tedious and a wrapper is better

any suggestions?

i mean you said it kdenlive is pretty great

k, just wanted to know if it was good before installing the 3000 dependencies required

for simple stuff shotcut is more than enough
kdenlive is VERY unstable under windows

Free as in gratis, yes; not free as in libre, which is why you will still be a thieving cucked faggot possibly infected with malware when you pirate it.

I just pirated the version of Premiere Pro before it all went to shit and it just werks.

Thats what aliases are for, and ctrl+r (especially when used with fzf)
>>
>>108100332
I mainly use ffmpeg to split audio/video at specified timestamps without re-encoding anything. Most GUI editors will just re-encode everything by default, which degrades the quality in cases where it might not even be necessary. The same goes for splitting the audio and video tracks from each other (demuxing) without re-encoding them either.
>>
>>108100332
I didn't want to fiddle around with coordinates in a cli command so I use kdenlive for annotating. WYSIWYG and all that
>>108100529
Yeah in fact I have a text file for all the moderately complex commands you run.
>>
>>108105718
ill add that ability to my program >>108105343

that's something i have wanted to do. i did it for video combining tab. with my scrub / trim / combine tab i added error checking to falling back to copy if audio has corruption with my latest private build so it doesn't outright fail. but i really should add a dedicated extraction tab.

davinci resolve -> export to DNxHR or something similar -> convert it to actually usable format with handbrake or ffmpeg if you want to
they want a lot of your information but you can put in whatever you want, I don't think they even check the email

never used kdenlive, looks alright if you want some casual editing
these days you can even use Blender for editing
>>

Avidmux for simple cut / cliip edits via gui interface.

Ffmpeg for precise frame edits/ clip-cut and re-encode to diff file format

Kdenlive for edit suite to do the above 2 also adding transitions / effects ..ect
>>
>>108104122
use a throwaway e-mail? I assume there are at least a few relatively east to find providers that aren't blacklisted.

You mean Avidemux and I completely agree.
Some of the best video editing software out there.

For working on multiple videos in one project without re-encoding, with subtitles and chapters, I had to make my own program - Ume Movie Editor https://sengami.itch.io/ume-movie-editor
It's absolutely proprietary.
ffmpeg isn't a video editor.
use capcut like a normie.
>>
>>108100332
Pretty sure kedenlive uses ffmpeg for its encoding. ffmpeg isn't really a video editor, just an encoder with some extra features.
>>
>>108108639
everything FOSS uses ffmpeg, even the youtube backend does, the problem is that ffmpeg commands are really fucking hard and complicated

>ffmpeg commands are really fucking hard and complicated
Tell me about it, I wrote this script when 4chan first supported webms and have updated it every time a new feature was added. It aims to always come in just under the file size limit. It's not always successful though since ffmpeg takes the file size as a suggestion.
>>
>>108108672
how the fuck did you learn all of that.
also, do you have a repo or something?
>>
>>108108682
I googled how to make ffmpeg do what I wanted and would post here when a new feature came out since everyone was trying to find the best way to implement new features.
I don't have a repo, this script is spaghetti and should not be used by other people.
>>
>>108108523
>can't cut videos on non-keyframes
this might be a deal-breaker for a lot of people. For example, i have 60fps gameplay recordings with GOP size of 600 (a keyframe every 10s).
You could try encoding just the first/last GOP on unaligned cuts to allow for any arbitrary cut, losslesscut has experimental support it i think.

does anyone uses flowblade? it seems to be the only maintained gtk video editor and a possible challenger to kdenlive rule.

>>108100352
this is the one true answer. I edit for 2 different channels on YouTube and nothing else comes close. Vegas went to shit ever since version 14, and SONY sold it to some gay slophouse developers that somehow managed to make it worse. Kdenlive is acceptable only for small and simple edits.

I found this in case anyone has been convinced to try this software out.
