Also probably the fastest we've burned through a general, we're so back /hpg/.
Thought it'd be fun for everyone to share their setups, since we don't do much of that now. Some of the speaker rooms were cool last bread.

Well, alright. Hopefully the FiiO doesn't decide to kill itself or some shit since I really like the source switching feature. Also, speakerbros, if you have any recommendations for some monitors/speakers that would be an upgrade from MR4s and are of a similar size, I'd appreciate it. These really can't do bass all that well.

Have you tried using a cheap sub instead? Might be a better solution, can't imagine bass would improve too much in the near-field price bracket.

I have an Edifier T5 as well but placement was kind of a pain. I put it under my desk but I had a hard time calibrating it correctly so the bass wouldn't be too much. Might take it out of the box and try again, I suppose. I guess I can't expect good bass out of near-fields so the subwoofer might be necessary after all.

what do you need a digital volume knob for? you sure you didnt mean analog? mine also has source switching but only two inputs
>>
>>108103971
>what do you need a digital volume knob for?
Digital volume control means no channel imbalance. I had a Schiit amp with an analog knob some time ago and it developed a channel imbalance eventually. You can fix that by soldering in a new potentiometer but that's a pain in the ass.
>mine also has source switching but only two inputs
4 inputs in mine was part of the reason why I got it so I can use it with my PC, my TV and my turntable. Another thing was the ability to output sound either only to the headphone out or to the line out so my speakers. Most non chink dac/amp manufacturers don't offer this and it's a shame since I don't trust the chinks all that much. Oh well, it hasn't killed itself yet.

Real bidding occurs in the last 10 seconds of the auction, because nobody wants to inflate the price early. Basically ebay operates on a slightly modified Vickerey auction scheme.
Your best bet is to submit your realistic highest bet literally in the last 1-2 seconds unless you're sniping or botting

>>
>>108104334

>>
>>108106143
>they literally measured all their headphones.
Even that only really accounts for QC. They tried to account for positional variation and leakage effects by re-seating and re-measuring the headphones multiple times, but that obviously has its limits. They also used open back headphones, because they found them to be less susceptible to positional variation and leakage effects in general.

TL;DR: They're quite alright. Erin wasn't terribly enthused, but I think that's mostly because he had very high expectations. You certainly could do worse, and I'm not aware of a speaker of the same price that beats them in all aspects.
Ascilab F6B would get you more linear frequency response and more even directivity, but they can't play as loud and deep, and availability is poor.

Glad you like it, anon. As far as open back headphones go this is the best option <$200 imo which is why I suggested it.
>>108111054
> what could I do to improve the subbass a bit?
Just apply some EQ. These are VERY low distortion(0.2% in the bass, 0.5% in the treble at over 90dB) which means you can boost the subbass by >6dB or more no problem. The only issue you might have depending on your source is that when you EQ you need to apply negative preamp gain of the same amount which means it will lower the overall volume so more power is required.
>I get it's never going to have the bass of a semi-open back
Nonsense. It's just the matter of applying an appropriate low shelf filter.

There's nothing wrong with Airpods
>>
At what price range for wired headphones (over ear) do I expect to see comparable quality to HDB 630 or AirPods Max? Or are they equal dollar-for-dollar?
>>
>>108111908
build quality wise its hard to beat apple. but sound wise even cheapest open chinkfiman will wipe floor with them.
>>
>>108111908
Sound wise even cheap 6XX's are beating wireless stuff
>>
>>108111315
If you EQ then get Bathys, at least they are not made in chinkland and feel like a proper audio product, not landfill material.

At 25 bucks because that's how much KSC75 costs. Even the most expensive wireless slop gets BTFO'd by $190 HD6XX in build quality or $130 JT7 in audio quality.
>Or are they equal dollar-for-dollar?
lmao
>>
>>108111956
The “hurr durr six hungos by old mate senn” don’t have the base or treble extension that even dollar store headphones have, their resolution is grainy and they have basically no soundstage. Their only accomplishment is having a “true neutral” sound signature while disregarding basically everything else about audio. P.S. stop going on /r/headphones

>3D-printed chink plastic beats aluminum and steel
How did dankpods get this popular?
>>
>>108112045
I meant in audio quality, retard. If you mean in build quality then HD6XX is built better than any wireless slop. Even fucking $50 SHP9500 is.

NTA but as this is a retarded post I'll bite
>don’t have the base
Fair enough but that's fixable with EQ.
>or treble extension
Treble is well extended up to nearly 20khz which is the range of human hearing, and there is no music content above 15khz. Unless you're claiming you're superhuman and can somehow hear above what is humanly possible.
>their resolution is grainy
Function of the frequency response but I'd never describe them as grainy.
>they have basically no soundstage
See above, frequency response. Imaging would be a valid nitpick, though, since the drivers aren't angled.
>stop going on /r/headphones
I do not frequent pl*bbit.
>>
>>108112067
Yikes, the headphone movement needs to sort itself out. Metal is always seen as a better build material than plastic, especially since shitheiser has gone downhill in recent years.
>>
>>108112034
>base

there's literally no reason for /iem/ to be separate from this thread. it should just be an audio hardware general like /ag/ or /audio/ or something
>>
