>One of the more interesting talks in recent times is how DRAM suppliers from China are 'somehow' going to save gamers from the ongoing memory shortages, but it appears that this might never be the case. In a new report by the Korean outlet MK, it is disclosed that CXMT is looking to benefit from the DRAM demand coming its way and plans to allocate 20% of its total production to HBM3, which is approximately 60,000 wafers.

What's the problem here?

China should stop making so many AI memory chips. There's no need. Have the west bankrupt itself by overinvesting into AI, and then distill their models to make you own, that's 90% as good at 10% the cost.

Don't know why China would even want to compete with western AI head-on instead of the tried and tested method of doing things cheaper.

The modules exist out there but almost nothing uses them. Chicken and egg problem. Also they still use ddr5 chips which can be used elsewhere.
