Supply and demand is fake, demanded products are not supplied in globohomo economies.

Good. The Market has spoken. If you don't like it then make your own. You are not entitled to anything your money cannot buy. Face it. AI is just more valuable, otherwise it wouldn't have so much financial backing.

Yes they are, retard. The Market does not make mistakes. The truth is you and your ilk are just not worth the opportunity cost. If 10000 people want a $100 LCD display and 1000 people a $200 CRT would I choose to sell 10000 LCD displays or 1000 CRT displays? Only a retard with no business sense would choose the latter.

The execs are not retarded. Their job is to make the most profitable business. Employees are a cost. Only a retard would choose to have unnecessary employees or spend money they do not have to. Face it. AI is the future and using AI to run your business results in more profits. If you aren't using AI to replace your employees you will lose to those who do.

>Employees are a cost. Only a retard would choose to have unnecessary employees or spend money they do not have to.
Not when you think like a manager.
Employees are status.
A manager with 100 people below him has higher status than a manager with 20 people below him.
And a CEO of a company with 20.000 employees has a higher status than a CEO of a company with 5.000 employees.
Higher status = higher pay.

If you're a $300k/year manger and you notice 40 of your 50 people are unproductive you don't fire 40 people you hire 200 more.
Now you have 250 employees under you, justifying a $1M per year salary, and the job gets done with the 50 productive ones so everybody is happy.

gun and ammo companies spun up production in like 2016 and a bunch went bankrupt right after due to demand dropping. so now they are gun shy about building new factories. that's like a super common problem with American gun companies with Winchester, Remington and Cold all going bankrupt multiple times all the way back to the 1800s whenever demand dropped.
there was fucking shit with the oil companies where the north dakota shale companies jumped production during the late obongo and trump years and then brandon pulled all their drilling permits so they went bankrupt when coof happened and bp and the standard oil babies all under produced because they made more money by under producing than they would have had they met demand

there are options, plenty of them, to be found in the use market. if anything it is an exciting time. i really want to buy an sxm2 to pcie adapter and get a v100 to play with.

So fake and gay.
This is setting up the WEF's cyber event to happen where they'll demand every device needs to be authorized by digital IDs to use because of some fake cyber 9/11 they've got cooked up.

Meanwhile GPUs, SSDs, RAM, HDDs, PSUs will all be horded in empty warehouses for them to go back on and install backdoors into for the feds to have all access to.

This world is so fucking gay it hurts. Everything you could ever like will always end up infiltrated and ruined by glow niggers, jews, freemasons and zionists.

the current discord event is the more likely way it will be deployed. if it is a platform the powers that be control they will require id, simple as.
the solution is just to build alternative platforms.
>run you own web form

I actually dislike drives over 2TB for a few reasons, first 2TB was the cap for XP/"KPro and I like to standardise. Even moving up the OS tree it's better both on throughput and redundsancy to have 2X2TBs in e.g a win7 box that Ix4TB. I found 2TB a great size to settle on but 500GB drives are reslly useful to. Most OSs fit fairly comfortably in that size.
>>
>>108150431
>I am hoping this is just some temporary bubble shit
It's not the industry wants consumers on cloud portal clients with about 500GB and ideally less like 256. There will be devices with 1-2TB sure but they will be expesnive for normies and they will be apple/amdroid cloud portal devices.

>>
>>108150528
You don;t get it, nta but I'm not a luddite at all. I'll explain, you have a PC because of IBM and MSFT and Intel, you have a GPU because of Nvidia YOU had a peronal computer BECAUSE corporations wanted to sell you one.

Now they don;t anymore, they want to sell you comthing else which is a portal device, whether that's win11, linux feeding of online repositories or netflix, AWS, Azure, Google cloud, a post seventh gen games console, an andoid or apple device. They want that because they want to monitise you as a subsciption. They never liked dealing with you, you hacked their shit, you pirated their software and media and they don't give two fucks what you want or think anymore and they are not going to sell you shit for a retarded space heater desktop with dumb fucking leds in it. They might sell you a server product (you will also have to subscibe).

If you don;t startb working up your offline LAN and digital soverignty what the fuck are you going to do? All teh corpprations that enabled your personal computing don;t want to sell that to you anymore. They want to sell you somthing else.that is slower than local computing and storage, less secure and less private and they do not give a fuck if you don't like it. You are up against every single massive computing corporation that made your dumb fucking overbuilt desktop possible in the first place and they don't want you making them anymore. They want you on Apple TV, Amazon Prime, Azure, One Drive, Google Drive, Good Docs, Office 365. Even the fucking Linux scene is well illusrated by Steam OS, it's another fucking portal device.

If you don;t sort your shit out and fast, you are fucked. And piling all your resources into one overbuilt space heater led lit monstrosity creates a single point of failure and is not the way to go about it.

If you want peer torrenting for your disk images on your offline LAN you will need multiple clients..

Things are not as bad as you make them out to be because there will always be a secondary market for used components and you can make a general purpose computer out of just about anything that can compute and be wired to a display of some kind.
For sure don't be stupid and squirrel away what you can now but don't let yourself be consumed by worry and dread. Whatever happens you can adapt and find a way make what you need.

THis is the way I have solved my problems with redundancy. Do your clean installs, patch everything up get them sweet and tuned with your utilities eytc. YOu don;t need ANY deciurity because it is offlines. OK image the partitions, most of it is empty so compress it. Do that for each machine. A lot of mine dual book, stuff like XP/Win7 or SUSE/Win10. When you have all your disk images and your machines up, ensuring they are on surge protection, set up a peer torrent so wach machines torrents its drive image. Now I keep three raid boxes as well, One of them is outside the building on a UPS, the other two are inside the building on a UPS. I find that people generally overeastimate storage, you get a shit load of material into a couple of terrabyes. That material lives on the RAIDS, your software, your MP4s, MP3s, PDFS, etc.

I used used WAN mirrored databases and I'm not a huge fan of mirroring, it's defnitely a way to deal with redundacy and there is more than one way to crack and egg.

You may like this (a lot)

https://kiwix.org/en/

I'm happy enough stopping at the most modern stuff being win10/SUSE not because I'm a luddite retro kid but because OSs like e,.g Win7, older distros, ZP etc, like gen 7 consoles were actually build to be offline, that's not true of the current stuff. It's not true of steam and it's not true of linux or windows either. I have a big librray of physical media behind everything which sound dumb but it has no electrical cost, has no need for parts and it works..

I fucking hate the direction things have gone and are goi9ng but when I see kids ranting about shit like the xbox or whatever the thing is ALL new games are going to run via cloud servers, they won;t run offline at ball and you will be able to play them on any portal device. I think it will all suck ass too. In one way I am a luddite, I just installed OG starcraft on Win7 and got it running LAN multiplayer. Golden era. It is over.

Seriously, is there any realistic path to unfucking the hobbyist PC market, or is this just it

>Things are not as bad as you make them out to be because there will always be a secondary market for used components

Not yet which is why I will scream to anons from the rooftops to start at least thinking about getting your offline LAN, no internet gateway at all. You can do it a million ways BUT whether you make it from old Windows XP boxes, Windows 10 boxes, Kali Linus boxes, Arch whatever the fuck, it all has to fuction with no logons, no internet connectivity and give you what you want, that might be dev envs, it might be loads of mp4s, it might be video editing or whatever but if you need an internet connection of logon to make something launch, it's fucking worthless. That drives you back to non SAAS.

Computing is going back to being a niche hobby. Normies doin't even want laptops now let alone desktops. Most internet access is via android phones. The corporations don;t even want to sell servers to small business with a couple of hundred staff now either, it's fucking azure or whatever and even the payroll is a web portal.

These companies don;t want the end user personal computer consumer anymore. They don;t care and they are not going to supply or support it or encourage it, hell they don;t even want to sell people games consoles, just more portal devices with cloud storage and charges and subsciptions.

It's the same with fucking cars even. They don't want to sell a car, they want a subsciber who is effectively leasing a car.

To be completely fair, he isn't wrong. There is clearly a demand for CRTs and there are niche things they still do better than anything else. Not saying I'm lining up for one, but it is kind of peculiar.
>>
>>108150711
But whose fault is it? People online are very vocal about local computing but most normies love leases and subscriptions. The companies are simply meeting the demand.
>>
>>108150678
>Seriously, is there any realistic path to unfucking the hobbyist PC market, or is this just it
Honestly it is over, how long it lingers? I'm still making and working on 8 bit computers that have not been sold since the 80s with other nerds. So probably forever but it will become nice. There are about 1.7 Billion computers in the wild and about 7.8 billion smartphones. Half of those computers are ancient, most of them are in cubicles in call centres and accounts departments etc. The actual private personal computer consumer is a spec of shit in the big picture. Eve n GAbe does not want to sell you a computer running linux, he wants to sell you something that's basically a launch XBone, that is cloud connected and a portal device. The internets a fucking wasteland of dead forums and sites because no keyboard on a phone. The normies communicate via pictures and short video clips taken on phones and 10-60 word titles. Every serach for a fix for something and now you find have the results are some retarded jeet wearing gloves with an AI voice on youtube reading a dell helpfile or some shit like that?

And AI is incoming and jeetware has the money behind it. The people who make this shit, the nividias, the intels, the microsofts, they want to do nice clean business with each other based around datacentres, they don't want to deal with teh fucking public anymore other than getting their subsciptions. Shit like the next GTA or Skyrim or whatever is going to be ONLINE ONLY and designed to work on a portal device.
>>
>>108150763
>But whose fault is it? People online are very vocal about local computing but most normies love leases and subscriptions. The companies are simply meeting the demand.
They buy what is marketed at them and is available to buy. Its not better, it is faster to open a file from a local lan or ssd than a remote datacentre and it's less secure because even to get to that datacentre it has to pass through fuck knows what and it's less private because now it's a trust relationship between you and everyone in that connection chain and the datacentre staff and the companies (good luck with that). It is only better in one way, it is easier to monetise.

Tons of harddrives on Amazon to buy, it's just a little bit more than it used to be. Poor people don't even need large drives anyways, so I fail to see what the problem is.

If you're unable to spend a couple hundred dollars on a harddrive, obviously you're not going to have a lot of data worth saving.

To be honest with you I remeber checking hundreds of CRTs in skips they took up a huge amout of space o desks and all that shit with some special ones needsing anti glare shiels and all that bollix and they were heavy to. You'd have lads trundeling them around on trollies. THere were good reason they bit the dust, they were reasonably rare in any size much over 19 inches as well. I'm saying all that while I have a 32 inch CRT for lightgun games ad a couple of 14 inch ones for fucking around with old OG 8 bits but there were good consumer orientated reasons to get rid of CRTs. THat's nothing like what we are getting now, the death of personal computing and the intrnet reduced down to a few thousand 'apps' fuck I hate that word.

>>108150841
I have always done by own thing. I was big into the internet in 1994. Not so much now. Its already a fucking obscene mess of marketing, disinformation, scams and PR by both corporations and states and AI is only going to make that worse. It's fascinatiing as I'm hunting around for bits of old patches and stuff how many once thriving now dead spaces there are out there. Normies dumped stuff with keyboards and mice as soon as they could.

Ever since that damn OpenAI memory deal every company involved in AI has started buying as much as they can to prevent their competition from accessing that hardware. It's become a Cold War of denying competition what they need to expand.

I honestly won't be surprised if everything WD supply their AI customers is going to sit in a warehouse for years too.

>The Market does not make mistakes
But it does intentionally double down on long term stupid choices in the name of short term profits. Case in point, look at what "the market" did to the internet. Most of you are growin' to dislike it because of the directions you made the market pull it.
Now tell me that wasn't a mistake.

>>108151835
Are you going to start killing people over pc hardware? No? Your life is worth too much and you're just going to keep your head down and hope someone else does something?

Everyone else is thinking the same thing and that's why nothing will ever be done. If everything happened at once it might be different but these things are going to be rolled out gradually over the coming years and by the time you realize you should have done something sooner, it will be too late.
