Today I decided to look through one of my tracker's entire anime catalog. I thought that since the tracker is a general one, and is only 2 years old, there shouldn't be that many entries, so I could probably find something new or an older anime I enjoyed to seed there. Turns out, there were 12k+ anime in there. I ended up opening ~200 tabs with entries that caught my eye, either old shows I've seen before or new ones I haven't. I'm still combing through them, deciding what to download, what to watch later, and what to discard. I recently got a new hard drive, so I got plenty of space to spare.

how would you guys go about locally sourcing all the audios from my old youtube playlist?
the playlist is quite large, literally 1000+ videos, i've build up over the years and the problem is that the videos are pretty random (i've basically just been adding whatever i encountered with music i like) montages, AMVs, and official music videos all mixed together, there are also duplicates (different videos playing the same song). The process i need to do is essentially for each video: 1. identify which song(s) are playing, 2. check if i already have a local copy, 3. if not then source the song for the official release or highest quality available, 4. download it and store it in some local music-library structure.

I've found that doing it manually in a browser will take a very long time but there is also no way to reliably automate it because there is no way to reliably detect which exact song is playing on a video (youtubes own detection isn't anywhere near good especially for remixes and such it often gets it wrong and thinks its the original).

I'm thinking about writing my own streamlining tool that'll only speed up the process of doing it manually but that will also take a while to program in the first place.

I am a seedbox user myself and this is not the reason. If you are able to seed from home bonus points can help you deal with this. For normal people the intelligent way to use one would be to quickly amass a lot of buffer then cancel it after you have as much as you want instead of paying monthly. Especially on TL/IPT.

They cannot see any metadata unless you have DNS leaks. Even then your ISP probably does, not, care. I'm a former resident of the United States and I never had a single problem using private trackers without a VPN. Your ISP does not want to hassle you, the paying customer, unless legal demands have been placed upon them to do so. Even then they would still rather not. The court cases involving all the low hanging fruit on public trackers are evidence of this.

I'm not saying you can't have a preference for doing things how you think is best. Just make sure you actually understand what you're talking about. It doesn't look less suspicious when you're downloading TBs of data from megabigdickseedboxes.cc over HTTPS or SFTP than when you're downloading it from a random VPN node.

With that said here's what an actual privacy focused seedbox should look like. If you're renting from some random provider they like to slap their name on the reverse dns, https certs they have exposed on different ports, and even though they probably do enough to make sure their server doesn't get owned they probably don't hide what's running on it. Typing a shared seedbox IP into shodan will tell you exactly what's happening on the server.

So what's the bare minimum? Rent a server from some popular provider like OVH or Hetzner and set up the server yourself. Close down webui ports and hide everything behind reverse proxy vhosts. Do not put the names of what any of this software is on your subdomains.

Even better? Lock down all your fucking ports and don't allow outside access at all. Use SSH tunneling or a VPN to access the webuis. Put passwords on everything just in case something gets fucked up and it does temporarily get exposed. Pay attention to what is exposed by running scans and checking sites like shodan from time to time.

I don't give a shit about my ISP but I don't want my server screaming to the world "There's a seedbox here come poke around!" Plausible deniability is a side effect, security should be your number one goal if you're the one steering the ship.
