Systemd (which is on Debian, thus defeating your argument) is not spyware, and LXQt is in fact bad because it lacks a superbar.

yet, anon
do you know it will ping google dns if you don't opt out?

not in devuan, devuan simply uses the pre-systemd implementation of networking that doesn't ping google nor any other company ran by friends and clients of jeffrey epstein

cattle like op are proof that linux trying to appeal to normies was a stupid mistake and we should have done more to gatekeep them out.

Which part of the code actually executes a pinging command and what evidence do you have that distributions do not change this behaviour?

it only falls back to compiled defaults if you literally delete your resolved.conf file or the DNS/FallbackDNS fields in that file AND your DNS hasn't automatically been set by DHCP.

>>108178467
because cloud admins are retarded and RHCSA cert jeets probably get stuck figuring out why their systems can ping but not internet.
Any normie home PC/laptop will have DHCP defaulting DNS to the router (which hopefully has a non-google DNS set). Smart users will set resolved up with quad9 or some schizo DNS provider with DoT encryption or plug it into their own local DNS resolver.

The only way you can fall for this is pure skill issue..

It's pretty curious that the only alternative ever considered when discussing alternatives to big tech is completely controlled by one guy whose views are casually exactly the same as those of the CIA. Merely a coincidence, of course.

you know you can uninstall systemd-resolved and put whatever dns server in your resolv.conf right? it's not mandatory.

Doesnt understand that if you're on alt distros and they do something you dont like you can just move away to a new distro
Bought a NAS, installing and setting up OSes takes less then an hour nowadays cause all the data I want to keep is on the NAS
I said goodbye to Microsoft after using it since I got my first pc 26 years ago cause of 1 thing I didnt like (copilot) and you're fucked in the head if you think I wont do it to a OS I've only used for a month

Newfag, 99% of mainstream distros are systemd today. Independent projects slowly dies out from maintainer's fatigue. Eg. consolekit2 Gentoo gave up, they emulate udev and logind, install book reccomends systemdick
>>

Devuan
Gentoo

this

Look into microkernels - Genode - for exen more security. Genode+NOVA(hypervisor)+OpenBSD(in VM) sounds like a sweet solution.

almost. elogind and eudev - still licking redhat boot

Linux desktop experience being a dumpster fire for casuals is actually the best defense against enshittification. Once something goes mainstream for the casual masses, those casual masses start dictating the direction it goes. And we all know how humans behave at the group level.

All we have to do is break wifi again for new install. Needing to plug in an ethernet cable to turn on wifi is the great filter.

If you have an opinion on systemd, then you're not going to be asking for distro/de recommendations. The conversation you've made up in your head has never happened in real life.
>>
>>108179803
OpenBSD is already secure enough for 99% of threat models. I can see remaining 1% using something like this but how is it different than Qubes OS? I thought it was the golden standard.

do you really think an average auditor knows tech? they literally just verify if you follow your documented procedures (and if you have them)
audit is not a magic wand that makes the bad things go away

if systemd wanted to obviously not be spyware it would of been written in perl and run other daemons instead of just systemd-spywared

Wow what a lesson. You really have to go copyleft or copyright all the way, and commit to it. There is no middle ground.

It isn't the evangelists that say this, but the glowies that try to intercept normies migrating from windows and trap them with the backdoors they installed these last decades

for server, which runs everything in docker - that's ok
for desktop - biggest retardation ever seen
developers update applications constantly, some add features weekly
normal OSes and less retarded distros use latest versions
Debian: naaah mate, gimme that outdated shit from 4 years back
and you can expect next update in 3 to 5 year - if you're lucky
>>

use case for new weekly features? that's why debian is so stable

Are you arguing that the enterprise server OS is the truly free one?
Also why no mention of Arch? Surely if you watned something free from corporations you'd go with that. It's worst advocate if Valve, and they always end up as the lesser evil in any situation.

one of first distros to swallow systemdick
