I'm fully addicted to being on my PC. To the point where I've been neglecting my pets and social obligations.I think if I get rid of my gaming laptop, and get a regular/casual laptop, I will be able to stop gaming. If I do this, what kind of laptop should I get, and will this actually help fix the problem.I only play League, TFT and CS.
>>108184110i got a rig that's been collecting dust ever since i fixed up my laptop. ended up maining that for daily use and i'm more or less in the same boat as you, so i don't think the machines themselves are the issue here
>>108184110take that money and spend it on a therapist that handles cognitive behavioral therapy instead of a computer
Just install Arch Linux on it and don't install steam.
>>108184110Gaming isn't an addictionIt does provide lots of dopamine though, if you choose to play video games instead of striving for whatever your goal in life is, then clearly your life goals are shit because your brain thinks games have more value
>>108184189hey good job you just denied something is an addiction and then described what an addiction is. impressive.
>>108184110better to start re-programming your dopamine access behavious. start your day with black coffee (not instant) and a cold shower, walk your dogs, light non-failure exercise (because right now too much effort will make you give up) and have sex. get plenty of early morning and early evening sun. you'll be fine.
>>108184170I was in therapy for 9 years. Fuck that I will never go back
Stare at a blank wall until morale improves.
>>108184321sorry to hear that, good luck.
>>108184200Drugs are an addiction, there are bad side effects if you stop taking them and your body CRAVES more. You're dependent on it. Alcohol is an addiction for the same reason, you become dependent on alcohol. Drinking coffee is an addiction. Gaming isn't an addiction. Nothing bad will happen if you stop gaming, nothing is there to pull you back in, there are no UEEEHH I WANT TO GAME!!! urges or withdrawal symptoms. It's just fun. Same for gambling. Gambling is something that losers do because they don't have any goal in life, and that's the best thing they can come up with. That's not an addiction, they're just bad at life, same thing goes gaming
>>108184339you're wrong, there are documented withdrawals from both of those behaviors you're denying for some reason. it's weird that you acknowledged that he reprogrammed his dopamine receptors in your initial comment but you can't seem to make the connection here. weird, but I know you'll get there some day.
>>108184354I just don't see dopamine imbalances as addiction, I guess? Learned a bit, it's called "dopamine addiction theory". Theory? Well then since nothing is decided there, it's whatever, could be called an addiction, could be notVery interesting to learn that there are physical symptoms to dopamine imbalance, didn't know that
>be me>used to be a loser gamer>eventually get so bored of playing games that it felt like there was nothing to play>I basically wanted to kill myself because of my lack of purpose>get contacted by an Army recruiter>got nothing to lose>take the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB)>do well on the mechanical maintenance portion>enlist as a vehicle systems maintainer>get a $15k signing bonus>feelsgood.jpghttps://www.goarmy.com/how-to-join.html
>>108184666You will meet a dark handsome stranger.triple six, bad omen for anyone that signs up. certain death. good attempt at earning your recruiter wage though.
>>108184666do not do this it's a scam
>>108184666Satan will there be a draft?
>>108184468>drugs change your dopamine baseline>video games change your dopamine baselinedunning kruger, why are you arguing on here? you don't know what psychological addictions are
>>108184110>I only play LeagueFound your issue. League is like crack, with all the negative effects of substance abuse.
>>108184110>AIslop pic>irrelevant time-wasting question>cares about le social obligationsyou talk like a fag and your shit's all retarded
