I'm a low coding stem data scientist, do not have a CS degree do I know the basics but whenever I try to use the free AIs like Claude, deepseek, gemini etc, they just produce a bunch of files that run in the observation window. Like pipelines and games that are extremely small and just run in the browser. How do I actually code entire websites I can deploy?Sorry if this sounds dumb and shit but it's very abstract to me.I tried to use Google AI studio and that was really weird, it couldn't create any apps, it created weird games that only run in the window but I can commit to my GitHub.I haven't looked it up but I wanted to hear it from you guys. Are people really copy pasting code from the free versions to do things? Or do you have to buy Claude code and then run it through VS code where it creates apps and websites for you?
>>108184138pick up the pencil lazy nigger but programming equivalent
>>108184138you just do it
>>108184153It's not working
>>108184176That means it's working
>>108184138Use terminal based coding agents like Claude Code or Codex. Yes, you have to pay $20/month.I guess you could also just do a lot of copy pasting from the free web interface. But basically the process for a website is just something like>determine which front-end/back-end technologies you'll be using>determine how you'll handle hosting>start with a minimal set of core features you want (think very small)>get it working>add features, extend existing featuresAll the while watch for code smells and slopification or else the whole thing will collapse prematurely and the AI won't be able to add new features or fix bugs on the codebase anymore
>>108184138>I'm a low coding stem data scientist If you were really stem you'd learn how your own software and hardware works yourself instead of relying on AI slop.
>>108184232Thanks for explaining it so I can understand it>>108184264Most people only use coding within their field. You can't ask mechanical engineers to make websites.
he cute
>>108184138>download windsurf>tell it to make website>upload code it creates>profit
>>108185015why are you uploading the code it creates? just have an agent provision a vps and handle all of that.
>>108185092you could do that, yeah. i just prefer to have some part in it myself. remember: AI is being pitched as a convenience, but in truth all we're doing is training it how to replace us.
>>108184138The AI only really does the leg work... You still have to know what it is you want, at least vaguely how it should work. Part of that second part understanding some basic concepts of what a website is and how it works.IMO you're in the camp where you should be using the AIs as learning resources. Basically Q&A until the dots start to connect into a larger picture. Take this exact post, then copy and paste it into the AI of your choice. If it's the agentic hype train that you're on, forget "apps" and "websites" for now, and use agents to automate the things you already know how to do, and start adding additional functionality that maybe you didn't know how to before.
How did you not just ask the AI this question?Your question is not: "how to code?", its "how to deploy?".
>>108184138>Are people really copy pasting code from the free versions to do things?yes. the free versions are way worse but people do this because they're cheapskates. if you pay up for claude code, it writes the files itself (if you give it permission) and can even commit to github itself if you like wasting tokens
>>108186749>How did you not just ask the AI this question? That is the point of these threads anon. To get you excited about new slop. How are you supposed to FOMO into>>108184232>Yes, you have to pay $20/month.If you're not excited about slop?
>>108185259I'll do that
>>108184735If someone has the skills to become a mechanical engineer, they have the brain capacity to learn how to code.
>>108188051You can but you won't.
>>108188051but why would i do a fucking website?if i learn to code, and i actually learning, i will code machinery, cad tools or whatever not websitest. acual mech engineer
>>108188274Believe it or not, you can learn things just to do them without it having any connection to your profession.
>>108188051An agent can shit out a website or webapp easily, shut the fuck up retard.
>>108188288He doesn't have to. Do you also need to learn computer science to use excel? Hes building a website, cunt. I fucking hate faggots like you.
>>108188288oh like for a hobby, i mean yeah probably, sort of did in the pasti should have said work instead of do, i am esling
>>108188322If it's for work then do whatever. You would probably get better results hiring someone to make it than using ai.
>>108188328i am not op, coding in c has taught me that llms are not good for that, they help you debug if you are really stuck, but that is it. and probably wont be so helpful if i wasnt reinventing the wheel as asked by the course.it also taught me to hate c and unix philosophy, which ironically was the opposite of the intent of the course
>>108188529C is for dalits and python is for brahmins.
>>108188597i am only grateful that i dont know or care bout their castesfunnily enough, the course covers bothi kinda miss just doing really basic assembler on microcontrollers, or gcode for cncs
