I learned too late that being the "genius" who coasted through courses didn't mean I was as smart as I was. It meant my courses were dumbed down for the dumbs around me. There are better courses for better people, but I was surrounded by dumbs. I should have taken my lack of effort as an indicator that the course was not good, rather than believing I was super good.
