/g/ anons non techie here but are llms actually this intellogent entities or just next word predictors? Just seems hard to believe that all of them would waste money on word complete algorithm so whats deal?IDK who to believe one side thinks AI will be gods and another see it as a sham
>>108185150a little bit of both
No
>>108185150Imagine you took a database, a search engine, and an old school chat bot and smashed them together in an unholy mess that somehow functions.Needless to say it's better used as a toy or for very specific purposes.
>>108185150They're token predictors which simulate human intelligence to such a degree that they can easily accomplish cerebral tasks that were previously only capable of being performed by 100iq +-10 humans. This is a huge deal. Imagine you're a business owner and you have ten roasties in your employment sending invoices, taking orders, handling complaints, etc. - all this can be done by an LLM easily
>>108186669But can they cure cancer and essentially make most of us obsolete
>>108187442They cannot make most jobs obsolete, but they can make many jobs obsolete. An LLM cannot physically care for an elderly person, fix a leaking sink, design a wireline unit, etc.

Are humons really intelligont or are they just predicting the next neuron firing?
