what causes this?
ubuntu pro is literally free. snaps can be uninstalled and an apt pin can be placed so that they won't ever install again, (just like linux mint).
i think we should appreciate the efforts ubuntu puts in the linux space, as they collaborate with lots of different teams from gnome to the kernel to supply you with a justworks experience out of the box
i even give them telemetry, as i don't think the name of my laptop and processor have a privacy significance, but they can surely use this to dedicate time on proper drivers for my laptop.

tldr /g/ need be less doom&gloom and appreciate the free shit they get.

i use ubuntu (mate (but really xmonad))
i manage packages with apt/synaptic
things are good

Yeah, I'll be appreciating non-Canonical distros, which are free.

I fucking hate apt with a burning passion

>Hmmm... why did all these projects fail? maybe we should work on something original rather than reinventing the wheel for the umpteenth time?
>lol jk, we're just going to rewrite the coreutils in rust and make our own locked down version of flatpak, I'm sure people will love that!

fuck canonical, fuck red hat, simple as

I can't imagine the mental gymnastics necessary to think Ubuntu isn't free.
>>
If you like ubuntu just use mint.
if you don't like ubuntu use arch.
if you don't like systemd there are derivs of both.

Nobody said that, but if there are free things that are better, then you can very much appreciate what you can get for free, all without having to be a Ubuntufag.

well, OP is an idiot. it's been a while since I had to deal with ubuntu, but the issue I ran into is that snaps had current versions of software and apt had old versions. so they forced you into snaps...

does debian force you into snaps? debian has even older , bug ridden software

what's the difference between ubuntu and mint? i don't like the cinnamon desktop environment, and i can uninstall snap myself. i don't see a point to mint. didn't they get hacked by israeli jews?
