If you're restricted by poverty-line hardware, linux offers no advantages to Windows for getting things done. I can't be too harsh on it because it's a big technical achievement, but it feels like shit compared to running bare metal. wsl1 was more helpful for actual daily use imo.

Certain software is also important to things I want to do at home, so given a choice with zero constraints, I run Windows 11 Pro at home. A nice consequence of having money is being able to afford modern hardware, so even the performance boost argument doesn’t apply to Linux here.

Once you learn to treat linux as a tool instead of an identity, you’ll be employable too. If you really can’t do that, at least become a major kernel contributor so it isn’t sad.
