If the comparison was to high quality cables then maybe they would have a point but plain copper cables have terrible signal quality. They are literally antennas which receive every radio single, wifi, bluetooth, radar, everything gets picked up on them to distort the music you're listening to. It's no surprise that alternatives are better.
