You'd be a fool to pay $500 with tax for ram that used to cost $110 with tax.windows 11 uses 7+gb on cold boot zorinOS uses 2.3GB. So consider switching to linux. 16gb is still plenty.

Arch/Debian/Fedora with a Wayland window manager will use around 500-600MB at boot, that's with all of the systemd bloat, a bit less with x11. Even KDE and GNOME can be brought down to under a gig. This video is ok if your use case is a neovim machine which is the most functionality he shows off with this setup, but anyone can do that by just installing a window manage and switching to it at the login screen when they want to larp.
