Hi all, I'd really like to get a nice looking Keitai flip phone, but I have no idea what to get. I really wanna get the Sharp Aquos 601sh but since the 3G network has shut down in australia I apparently wont be able to use it? i don't really see a problem cause I'm pretty sure my home wifi has a 2.4Ghz band so I can just do internet stuff at home. But just as a backup are there any other nice looking Keitai phones that should work on the australian network? I'm only really interested in using it for music so I mean the 601sh should work just fine if I load it with songs.
>>108196600Before reddit zoomers nobody but the most embarrassing of weebs called that thing a "keitai"

these things are a nightmare to get to work outside of some very specific corners of the us and korea/japan because of the difference in frequences, it won't work and even if it does it will be extremely choppy btw keitai just means mobile phone

They were dubbed Galapagos phones because of how comparable they were to life on the isolated Galapagos Islands. Like garakei in Japan, the animals and the flora on the Galapagos were unique to the island and couldn’t be found anywhere else. [...]

>>108196600the kyocera gratina supports 4g/lte afaik
>>108196826keitai is just the japanese word for cellphone/mobile phone, though "keitai" itself is actually just the "mobile" part, though even in english "mobile" by itself can be understood as mobile phone given the right context
>>108196600>>108196976oh and you're likely fucked if you want to import a phone to australia. my op8t stopped working after the 3G shutdown because while it can technically do 4G VoLTE, australia decided to make support a whitelist, so if it's not sold here then it probably won't work
>>108196992eh idm, i can load it up with songs trough usb so thats fine. would I still be able to connect it to a home wifi network?
>>108197009>would I still be able to connect it to a home wifi network?sure

>>108196783touched a nerve there I see
>>108196992idk the history in australia but in the usa:>fight for years to get cell phones unlocked>oh wait they're limited to a single network via another method
>>108196904That's why I never got one of these 10 years ago. I can't even get a Sony Xperia phone now because they don't work on Verizon.
Years back I got Kyocera torque x01. It’s my dream form factor and when I received it I thought it was perfect. Of course it couldn’t work on any network in USA. Too bad. I’m so sick and tired of iPhone trash and jap flip phones really scratch an aesthetic itch for me
candy bar phones are superior
>>108198901For me it's the aesthetic + them having android (meaning having access to maps and banking apps) while still not being full-blown goy phonesPretty much nothing like this exists in the west
