Let's imagine I have two top-tier BOE VR displays, but I have no datasheets/driver boards. What can they be used? Recently I found someone selling BOE VX135KDP-NM2, but I can't find any information on how to connect them to DP/HDMI to try to make them work with steam vr. I'd like (at least try) to make my own headset as a diy project but I got absolutely zero experience with displays/electronics so that's why I'm asking this

Ask /diy/ because /g/ is useless.

/g/ should know more about MIPI display drivers though
>>
at least help me to find the datasheets

Yeah, it's obvious but not all MIPI displays are compatible. You need either drivers or datasheets to make it really work

Ask some AI to write you a convincing email to get them to cough some documents.

Those faggots don't send you anything until you prove that you are a company. It's almost pointless

If you're still a novice in the required disciplines of optics design, electronics, firmware design, why not start with a smaller project that don't involve expensive components to develop some skills first? A small, finished project is worth much more than a bunch of projects that died in their concept phase. You see, getting custom optics designed that is not utter garbage is not a beginner's task, especially with the cost involved in making small volume, custom optics. One more promising way to learn about it is to get a Steam Frame and do reverse engineering on it to get a glimpse of what's involved to make such a product.
Just as a general rule: it's usually not worth buying hardware that doesn't come with datasheets and other, required documentation since reverse engineering often requires a higher level of domain specific knowledge than forward engineering with the aid of sufficient documentation.

Yeah, I'm not going to buy it before I get datasheets/drivers in one way or another, that's why I created this thread. The displays are not that expensive, something like 50 euro for a pair if you buy them in china. It seems pretty good for a pair of top-shelf displays used only in premium headsets. I understand that optics are gonna be the hardest part though, I'm just leaving it for later. I'm not a big electronics fan though, I just think that it'd be a fun tech journey cause I'd have to learn a lot.

good luck ever finding them. ive chatted with suppliers about boards and displays like these and theyre ALL chinese dudes who speak zero english. asking 4 times over email for unit quotes and datasheets ended up with them ignoring me 3 times and saying chinglish pleasantries and then finally just writing out their product description that they already had on the website. youre better off trying to figure out the ics used on the boards and working backwards from that since datasheets for those are more likely to be available than for the assembled board.
