60hz is simply unacceptable
>>
>>108202063
they all look the same in the comparison you posted
>>
use case of using a phone with more than 60hz?
>>

epic gaming
>>
>>108202063
they are scam gimmick to drain your battery.
60 hz is a resourcefuls White mans choice.
>>
>>108202063
It's placebo, the human eye scientifically can't even see higher than 30hz.
>>
Even budget phones are 90hz or above today.
What kinda pajeet phone still does 60?
My €100 Xiaomi Redmi A5 workphone is 120hz and it's a miserable piece of crap.

use case of using a phone with more than 84x48 resolution?
>>
Went from a 60 hz to 120 hz display, saw no difference.
It's more noticeable on computer monitors.
>>
Why don't they make them with 30 or 25Hz?
>>
>>108202075
reading text while scrolling
>>
>>108202265
What's the use case for that?
>>
I don't see a point in more than 60 Hz. It is just good enough for most tasks.
>>
>>108202299
What else do you do on your phone
let's face it you don't get more than 2 phone calls a week
>>
>>108202240
At 21 Hz you start to see it as continues moving image. You go to 50 or 60 Hz to make it really smooth.
>>
120 drain too fast juice. I set 60 as default and 120 when plugged.
>>
>>108202403
>let's face it you don't get more than 2 phone calls a week
Less than that. But I don't use my phone for other things either.
>>
>>108202299
how else would I read my korean power fantasy slop?
>>

Anything under 360Hz is unacceptable.
>>
>>108202431
In the Japanese volumes.
>>
>>108202063
Always has been.
>>
>>108202075
There is no reason to use phones with more than 24hz or at the very most 30hz. Everything else is a pointless waste of battery.

>>108202403
The fuck are you reading? Books? You read messages one by one and usually messages aren't long enough to be bigger than your screen. If you're reading messages from some spammer or longposter then just use AI to trim it down.
>>
>>108202449
I take it you didn't get addicted to the 4chan app
>>
>>108202461
I just use my desktop PC to shitpost. And messages here are almost always short enough to fit an average smartphone multiple times over.
>>
>>108202063
Sure, 120hz is smooth, but I use 60hz or adaptive most of the time, for longer battery life. A phone is just a tool to launch other tools, you will only notice 120hz when you navigate your launcher, settings etc. Even most content that you watch is 30-60fps, except some games.
>>
>>108202410
It is even lower. 12 Hz is enough.
>>
>>108202063
60hz is perfectly adequate especially for handheld devices.
90hz is the ideal
120hz is in diminishing returns territory.
>>
>>108202265
The Star Wars title crawl is at 24 fps. People don't complaint about reading that scrolling text.
>>
>>108202410
I don't need to simulate moving images on a device where I just do texts and calls. A phone could be 10 Hz as far as I care.
>>
>>108202513
OLED screens are shit and create motion blur if pitch black pixels are involved.
>>
>>108202513
You can easily test it yourself. Set your refresh rate down to 60Hz and try to read text while scrolling. Then turn it back up to 240Hz and try it again.
>>
>>108202075
Phones have a ton of animated UI elements so they benefit from high refresh rates even more than PCs. You need over 500Hz to not see ghosting on a boundary between two moving elements.
https://youtu.be/Sb_7uN7sfTw
>>
>>108202972
Why do they need animated UI elements?
>>
>>108202519
>t. never scrolled text on a 120 fps phone

do you enjoy having eye cancer?
>>
>>108202984
Because they have touch screens.
>>
>>108202995
So do e-readers and they still work perfectly fine with the refresh speeds of e-ink.
>>
Buy the 90 or 120 one then retard. Doesn't need to be a whole thread.
>>
>>108203001
If you're blind.
>>
>>108202994
>scrolling
I don't need to scroll for anything. All my apps are on a single screen, all my messaging apps directly open the latest message, and if I need to find something I don't scroll like a monkey I use the search function.
>>
>>108203024
>I don't need to scroll
Too bad everything made in the last 30 years needs scrolling.

mine can do 120hz but I have it set to 60hz so it doesn't chew through my battery.
Battery is the biggest pain point still with modern phones imo

weird i busted out my note 10 + and i could scroll/read just fine am i uspposed to scroll really fast or what?

>>
>>108202063
There is no point to even 60hz on a phone. It's a phone. If I could clock it to 30hz I would prefer it since it would offer better battery life.
>>
>>108202092
they don't support current year networks?

you're pretty much forced into 4G phones
>>
>>108203106
>what are external battery packs

as if average /g/ dweller leaves the house anyway
>>
>>108203117
Ah yes, having to carry around a USB battery because phone makes insist on shitty gimmicks. We need to go back to a phone lasting two weeks with minimal use.
>>
>>108203123
they last like at least 2-3 days if you just let them idle and don't use them lmao
>>
>>108203143
Pathetic. My 5a lasts a week still despite being five years old.
>>
>>108203143

>it's that simple
>>
>>108203154

reading comprehension?
>>
>>108203033
Such as? We're already talking about a device that is ONLY used for messaging and calls. There's no scrolling needed there unless you're texting light novels, in which case it's better to just switch to your PC or laptop to type.
>>
>>108203143
Smartphones last 5-14 days on idle if they're not used more than 5-20 minutes each day. Even my ancient phone with a 2000mAh battery only needs charging once every Saturday.
>>
>>108203164
>ONLY used for messaging and calls.
the OP clearly shows a smartphone, normalniggers are going to be endlessly scrolling facebook/instashit/twatter/DPFs and word docs
>>
>>108202063
60hz is acceptable on an iPhone
>>
>>108202063

Ability to use a browser.
Which is super useful for looking up information when traveling.
Everything else is a gimmic but without the ablity to browse websites on the go you are severely handicapped.
>>
>>108203033
>everything made in the last 30 years needs scrolling.
True and it's insane smartphones don't have scroll buttons (or better: a "clit").
Swiping a touch screen is the dumbest least convenient way of scrolling.
120Hz screens to make swiping a slightly less horrible experience is a masive cope.
>>
>>108203249
the screens with gorilla glass are way more durable than mechanical buttons that would just wear out and break.
>>
>>108203164

We're talking about smartphones, not phones.

If you can't feel the difference between 60Hz and 120Hz you're probably some geriatric who navigates his phone at 2mph and still uses 1x animation scale
>>
>>108203709
There are no 120Hz phones, only smartphones. The discussion is about smartphones. Hope this helps.
>>
>>108203853
>The discussion is about smartphones
Yes. What exactly is confusing to you?
>>
>>108203872
You're the one that's confused. Nobody uses smartphones "only for messaging and calls". Calls aren't even in the top 3 things people use smartphones for.
>>
>>108203890
>Nobody uses smartphones "only for messaging and calls"
I do because I'm not a pajeet. I can afford a laptop and a PC for other things.
>>
>>108202265
What kind of autism is this?
>>
>>108203911
You're a pajeet that can't afford a real smartphone.
>>
>>108202403
I unironically don't get more than 2 phone calls a month, hell, if you remove the spam callers, there's months that nobody calls me.
>>
>>108202499
that's gamer propaganda
for scrolling text even 240Hz is a nice boost
plus you get great framepacing at 120/240Hz for all sorts of videos
>>
>>108202063
Yes
>>
>be me
>disabled smooth scrolling in browser
>have no issues even doing VR with 15 FPS per eye
>everyone around you argues over triple-digit refresh rates
I really don't understand what all the fuss is about. Maybe I just have low expectations and have internalized the fact a computer visualization is not going to be the same thing as real life.
Like, sure, recording on the VCR in "extended play" mode was a little ugly, but it was convenient to fit 8 hours on one tape.
>>
>>108204146
>low expectation
It's just a matter of getting used to it.
I was surprised to realize that some games get an enhanced sense of speed and rawness with low fps, though the playability gets diminished due to latency.
But not everything needs twitch reflexes. People like me and you best put their big brains to use in anime visual novels.
