What's the best free tier?
Mega offers 20GB (was 50GB), Google Drive 15GB, pCloud 10GB. Check current offerings as they change often.

I just need to send a large file to someone once.
SwissTransfer, Wormhole, Send (formerly Firefox Send forks like send.vis.ee), or pixeldrain.

What about privacy?
ProtonDrive and Filen offer E2E encryption. Mega claims E2E but has had controversies. You can always encrypt locally with Cryptomator or rclone crypt before uploading anywhere.

Self-hosting?
Nextcloud and Seafile are the go-to options. See /shg/ for more.

rclone?
Yes, use rclone. It's the universal Swiss army knife for cloud storage. Learn it, love it.
