>The 3-2-1 backup rule calls for three copies of your data (the original plus two backups) stored on two different types of media (such as cloud storage and an external drive), with one backup file kept off-site. Who or what service do you trust the off-site copy with, /g/?
Business wise? We have 2 datacenters at different locations wich replicate the information and the third is tape backups we store on another site.
>>108230210You don't. That's what encryption is for.
>>108230250encryption is for backups...?
>>108230290yes
>>108230250OP might be asking who offers reliability, availability, good transfer speeds, reasonable pricing for the long term, good technical support, a favorable legal jurisdiction, etc. Those aren't related to encryption.
>>108230341I think OP is talking about a physical location to go and physically put your media there. In which case the only right answer is your grandma's basement
>>108230358grandma's basement now becomes the weakest linkdo you trust her with that?
>>108230210nice try federali
>>108230210fuck backup. I like to live dangerously.
I'll only start caring about backups when I can backup my consciousness somewhere.
>>108230452>>108230436you faggots should unironically backup your dataget a cheap office pc off craigslist, put Linux on it and host a network /backup share on your local netThat can also run docker containers like syncthing, immich, channeltube, automatic ripping machine, tinymediamanager, *arr, jellyfin, etc. so you will live free from the faangs
>>108230520seriously overestimating how tech savvy the average /g/ fag is

I have a backup HDD with some kind of password on it where I upload my important files every couple of months.I used to have most of it on OneDrive but I don't trust these cloud shit anymore. Someday I reinstalled Windows, and when OneDrive connected, instead of downloading all my files, it decided that the files were deleted from my drive (format for reinstall) and so that it would delete everything.I could eventually restore it all, but it pissed me off.
>>108230210Whichever one won't bitch about strongly encrypted blobs.
I intentionally do not keep back ups. Deleting these decades of data would be freeing but I can't do it myself.
>resilio sync my important files between my desktop, my laptop and my nas>monthly backup to an external hddLike if my house caught fire I'd be screwed I guess but I'm not paying monthly for some offsite cloud service because I have been burned on too many occasions. Never use a cloud server that you don't have full control of. Sometimes I wish I had the balls to set up a secret remote server hidden in the ceiling of some random business's bathroom that mooches off the free wifi
