My slightly retarded meat puppet just got smacked for $500 xfinity bandwidth bullshit. I run a whitelist mac address filter for every chud that wants to gook up to my sweet internet. Is the hackerman coming for me?
>>
My WiFi isn’t her wifi, she just runs a long ass password and rents the modem and router because it’s 2026 baby and ownership is dead. We do be in the same building tho

Your iPad doesn’t even have 600 memes on it. Sit down lad, this is adult time
>>
>>108233108
How did they get your Wi-Fi password?
>>
Your gf rents your Wi-Fi to other people, but when they try to use it, you filter their device's address?
>>
>>108233311
My shit on lock, even if they had the password with a Mac whitelist I don’t think they could do anything short of a physical connection. GF got billed for like 7TB of data
>>
>>108233322
She has her own wifi, I just decided to look at my logs after she yapped at me and the 1970 dates are probably just some old handshake code

Why did she got charged for 7 TB of data? Jan 1, 1970 is the Unix Epoch, which means your router had just been rebooted.
>>
>>108233367
Idk, net isn’t unlimited here, after 1.2TB they start rawdogging you. I was more interested in rawdogging her so I never pulled up her logs. Not sure you can get to that on a rented corpo router
>>
Imagine living in a shithole that caps data

Didn't they remove the data cap like 4 months ago? My October usage shows 0 from when they fucked everything up switching to uncapped. I also signed up for the bad goy plan that was cheaper than the current one and explicitly stated unlimited. I was using around 5 TB, but it's too much work to fuck them so I gave up and only use around 2 TB a month. Make sure you're not stuck on some gimped legacy plan that still fucks you with the data cap.

Imagine being that poor as an ISP that you need to charge customers through the arse to move data over cables you installed in the 80s...

>>108234674
Yeah. I thought the mac dump wasn't clever neither... Now I've a list of devices I can pretent to be... And somewhere they can blend into the noise...
>>
>>108235039
What does having my tv’s MAC address realistically let you accomplish?
>>
>>108235039
>Imagine being that poor as an ISP
You know why they do it? Because they can.
Whatcha gonna do about it, switch to another ISP?
FCC says if you have 1 (one) ISP available, that's enough competition for you.
Go mobile? Even worse!

Funny thing is though, the moment another ISP comes into your neighborhood taking away significant amount of business, especially municipal providers, Comcast etc. IMMEDIATELY drop that racket. Peculiar, innit?
Not that that's the case anymore since #47 is in office, but hey, USA #1.

>Now I've a list of devices I can pretent to be.
Noooo Mr Robot, don't do it!

Fun fact: I live in Philadelphia, where Comcast is based out of our two tallest buildings. The city made goddamn sure that Verizon FIOS also covered 100% of the city as well, and fined them when they failed to do so (Fios wasn't available on my side of my street: I complained to the city, and within weeks they had that shit corrected).

We have no data caps.

So xfinity has had JS malware on their main page for like a month now. Are they ever gonna fix it?
>>
>>108233457
They did away with the data caps on new accounts but if you're an existing customer, you have to call them and request the cap be removed. They will remove it but you have to ask.

>>

you really do not know how it is they will replace you for free 64kbs
>>
>>108235994
>realistically let you accomplish?
Realistically? I can trivially pretend to be your TV on a network. With physical proximity, your network. IF that router poorly secured, then same rewls apply, remote.

The scope of this might be incredibly minor. It could be entirely nothing. It could lead to something else thinking I'm your TV and not really provisioning me with any form of challenge, because it's seen that before. It could lead to trails of evidence in logs that suggest your TV been streamin' kiddie pr0n - proving you isn't gonna be hard... It could lead to an assault on a protected system, which again you're left holdin' can for...

>>108236115
>Because they can.
Pretty much. D'ya know what really irks me tho? People pay it. They bend over and take it. Then suddenly I'm expected to...

>Whatcha gonna do about it, switch to another ISP?
Heh. This is where customer support comes in ... I know. Call queue hell. Indecipherable operative. Blah. Blah. Goal here is to register complaint as to service/pricing. Offer them an opportunity to make you a better offer.

If they don't come up with something you like then you start followin' lines back to an exchange then you take that. How it's absented from the location doesn't much matter, that's their problem now.

Sudden absence of intelliwebs might make you locally unpopular, so take reasonable precautions.

You "win" when they fix it. They aint installin' copper nowadays. All Fibo. If they think it's cost effective to use a copper they've pulled from the network as they've upgraded but then been unable to sell in bulk as they upgraded that section to fibre, then they just signified you didn't actually remove a large enough section - but you can follow that back to the next node I'm sure. Then chain them.... Rinse and repeat....

Either they'll stop fucking about. Or they'll lose that much money they die and someone else that doesn't fuck about can take their place..

Metal Gear Sweaty. I hate when I lug my tv into caribou and everyone gets mad when I fire up the CP app I downloaded from the store for free. Touch grass dude, that edge is way too sharp
>>
>>108233108
I thank the spam god daily that a company built fiber to my neighborhood recently, $50/month uncapped symmetrical gigabit instead of $80/month 1TB transfer cap at 400mbps down/10mbps up
>>
>>108236115
>Go mobile? Even worse!
Legit. Here, I'm 80Mbps at the wall... My phone doesn't struggle to 150-220Mbps...
No fibo this side of the village. But, even if it gets here, best they'll offer is 150Mbps...
Phone cost £15, unlimited data. Landline £30+...

>Not that that's the case anymore
You *could* do it, anon? As in, start your own ISP. Not sure of viability to this premise, but it might be possible to lease network and resell access... Over 'ere there's only like three, four (cellular aside) companies with network, all the others just lease and resale service...

If them pissed you that much, call it: fcukComcast.
I'll put money on you get customers just on that. Realistically, you just gotta not oversell the service, and you should be able to compete on quality. Any attempts for them interfering with your quality you can evidence - and owning both ends of a connection makes that easy - is going to be an easy win in an anti-trust...

>>108236580
>Are they ever gonna fix it?
Evidence that's broken?
I mean. Yeah. It's malware. But what you got to say they didn't want it there, or have not been compelled legally to ensure it's there?
>>
>>108236776
>only poor people care about data usage
Wrong attitude, dipshit.
I've "infinite" data. From mulitple sources. That doesn't mean I fail to 'care' about data usage...

*more importantly* you're failing to fixate on the *fact* that you've just been sold (rented) a connection rated with a megabit *per second* number, typically to a month long lease.

Let's just throw 50 for a number to fuck with. You're paying for 50Megabit. Every second that month ticks. In theory, you *should* be able to eat 50Megabit, every second, all month...

If they can't actually supply you with 50Mbps for a month, Why the fuck did they just sell you 50Mbps for a month? *that* is what you *should* focus on.

I rent you car, give it: this beybeh will do 70MPH - then when you try to drive it at 70MPH remotely put it into limp mode, then say: That's enough for this month.... You gonna get pissy, right? Right?

What if I rented you a 4bed house for a month, but a week into it tole you that you gotta share two bedrooms with three others in your street for the rest of the month... That tollerable?

Why the fuck is 'internet' magically different?

>>108237101
lol

>>108237603
Did I lend credibility that the list was likely to occur? Because that wasn't my intent.
*Possible* to occur... That was the first 5s of consideration... If one was to add in some disparate information casually left in accessible places, that scope can extend...
>>
>>108233457
You have to check what TYPE of plan you are on.
There was a grace period when COVID started where they forgave overages but they stopped doing that.

I should really hope not or it really doesn't bode too well for you.

Which part of the - I thought - clearly obvious statement are you featuring difficulties with?
