maybe you can remove the screw and the thing in the middle in one go. gives you more room to remove them from each other later. since the screw is just as stuck in the middle thing. like remove everything with the fucked screw. would probably turn it out and in again until it is fully removed.
>>
>>108240927
no matter how much i turned it counter clockwise it wouldnt dissassemble itself from the chassis of the pc case when it was still in good condition, imagine now LOL

5080 is a no-brainer.
Very good card. And it's going to stay relevant for a long time to come with DLSS. Unless 60XX series absolutely blows everything before it out of the water, it's going to be the best card under 3-grand for the next 2-3 years.

You can get more storage later. You can't simply upgrade your 5070Ti.

Someone said basically, DDR6 will be a thing one day.

And a shortage is literally all man-made, why is RAM needed for AI? Because AI is meant to make our lives better.

So I mean, I guess it's like RAM costs a fortune, but the next playstation will probably be literally a controller u connect to your TV and stream an entire generations game library from for $15 a month.
>>
>>108241297
>but the next playstation will probably be literally a controller u connect to your TV and stream an entire generations game library from for $15 a month.

That's the goal and why they want to remove physical media

Windows 11 increasingly mandates a Microsoft online account and internet connection for setup, wonder why they even let you make an offline account
>>
>if you don't care about DLSS then [Radeon card] is fine
This is one of the stupider templated automatic responses written by man. Everybody cares, developers and end users, and especially the ones who are always playing catch up with FSR. If you have it you care about being able to use it in every demanding game you get, if you don't have it you eternally seethe about not having it (with various different coping mechanisms). If someone is asking for what card to buy, it is telling them "if you don't care about the objectively superior upscaling method that is mandatory for every modern game--", which is doubly dissonant if comparing between a 9070/XT/GRE between other options because no one shops for such a solution to only play indie-pixel-slop or decade old games to begin with.

Unironically power connectors, or connecting cables to your motherboard. the connection pins are very fragile and can be bent/snap and then you're screwed.

Pic related, i forced this thing in the wrong way on a new motherboard and bent the pins because i was trying to cable manage and hide everything in a small case, never again, i've never broke anything like a gpu or cpu and ive taken them apart for water blocks and water cooling.

not knowing that the GPU is latched in while pulling it out, and you need to unlatch it (and it's impossible to fit your finger into there if you have a big air cooler, some mobo's might move your PCIE slot 1 slot lower than the first pcie slot on your case, which you could tell based if the pcie slot is aligned to the screw slot on the left), but usually when you break either the gpu or the mobo latch, it will still work.
Also if you have a dusty or hairy room, putting some dust into the CPU / pcie / ram slot will prevent it from working.

>>
>>108242473
best "mod" you can do to GPU is to replace paste after warranty is out. You can replace the thermal pads too but its not that easy since thickness is very important.
Anyway, it is kinda impressive to me how Nvidia always overdesigns their own cards yet they're always the worst out of all for performance and temps.
>>
>>108242469
you are chilling for 1080p.
if your 5600g is causing you to run at 30fps, you are looking at 60fps with a 9800x3d (more likely to be lower than higher). CPU's don't scale as well as GPU's, and the 9800x3d is only 8 cores, the 5600g has 6, only way to know is if someone does a benchmark with the exact same settings between the 5600g and 9800x3d (assuming the game is CPU bottlenecked).
If you wait like 1-2 years, you will spend 2x more than what you are buying right now (hopefully either 20% faster or 20% more power efficient...), because new hardware is always expensive on the first release. But you could wait and eventually it will become affordable (but you will be buying cheaper parts, and missing performance, but you get the option to upgrade when newer parts come out? maybe?).

If you're willing to repaste a GPU then you're willing to do regular maintenance. At that point you can use putty which will greatly ease the need for exact measurements on the memory chips and assorted bits. Any issues with the putty degrading faster than a good pad is negated by the fact that you can just do it again.

putty is complicated because it actually can ruin the card if it leaks under electronic components, same for really shitty leaky thermal pads.
I personally changed the pads on my 3080ti after doing research on pad thickness.
It was probably the best thing I could have done for it, but now I have 5080 and this baby not only runs cold it also has phase change pad so It should be fine for many years to come.

I know this isn't a common topic for /pcbg/, but does anyone have any recommendation for PC tablets?

I have a Surface Pro 6 from 2018. It has only 8GB of RAM and the SSD is extremely slow (it's the 128GB model, this was known at release too). It's getting a bit long in the tooth, I'd like an upgrade and I'd like it to be a PC x86 device too. I have tried looking at options and it seems this market segment is extremely shit / lacking nowadays. Some models I've considered:
>a new Surface Pro 11
The x86 versions seem to start at like north of 1500EUR, a 'nice' one with 32GB RAM and an OLED screen is over 2100EUR instead, seems extremely expensive for the specs
>OneXPlayer Super X
Seems to be new so not much 3rd party info on it, comes with an AMD AI Max 395+ so it should be much faster than a Surface, price is still like north of 2100EUR for a 48GB RAM version, OLED screen. Nice specs but apparently it weighs 1.3kg, I've never used such a heavy tablet before and I wonder whether it's too much for actual handheld use
>Minisforum V3
Slower but like half the price of the alternatives, cool feature to use it as an external monitor for another system, however it seems to be out of production now, can't be bought anymore
>Asus Flow Z13
Basically the same kind of device as the Super X, but it has an LCD screen and is even more expensive. Same problem with the weight at 1.2kg.

Basically all my options look extremely expensive, does anyone have any recommendation for other models? Do other models even exist? I can't find shit.

The DLSS/FSR performance<->quality scale is actually about the internal resolution the game runs in. "Native" means the game runs full res and DLSS is used as fancy anti-aliasing ("DLAA"), "Ultra Performance" means it runs at the lowest resolution available. The lower you go the muddier the final image gets.
DLSS with a bit of sharpening is the best upscaler there is but it won't do miracles, the closer you get to native the better.

Alright thanks.
I read somewhere that qd-oled also has much less issues with gradient than w-oled. No idea if it's completely true or not though but afaik to at least some extent it is.
I'm going to decide until tonight whether I should get a 32 inch MSI one or a 27 inch ASUS one.

PCIe 5 can output video through the motherboard’s thunderbolt port?!
>>
Do the pins in an AM5 socket actually contact the CPU while its in the socket but before the latch locks it in? watching some videos some people do a wiggle in the socket to make sure its in properly before closing the latch, I'm just wondering if the CPU is actually in contact with the pins while wiggling it like that

usbc/thunderbolt support video output because its technically displayport

Gen5 is absolutely not worth it. SN850X was to be had for "just" €330 in January. Lucky me got one. Currently going for €425 here in goy money. SN8100 for €641. Gen5 is a terrible waste of precious shekels.

It's high frequency higher timings
You might get away with manual or lower EXPO if you have an MSI motherboard that can "attempt" different profiles for you
If you got an X3D it may help offset the timings being a bit higher

Ask again later I know there's an anon good at manual clocking 24/48gb m die kits (I think it's m die?)
>>

when am5 launched they recommended a limit of 6000 anyways.

> Ddr6 isn't happening this decade
It will certainly come later than planned before the AI hype. Faster RAM doesn't meet the most important requirement of our time which is simply more RAM.
>>
>>108244870
they also had racks of "illegal" GPUs too.
>>
>>108244789
this is almost guaranteed to be m-die and they can do 6200cl32 no prob on ryzen but the subtimings will need adjustments because its all tuned for intel not amd.
>>
>>108244087
Ddr5 was THE ram upgrade
Even going from 3600cl14 to 6000cl30 ram on a 12600k provides 20% better performance
Sorry to say but you missed out bigly if you skipped ddr5
>>

To put things in context, You will probably not notice the difference between 7200 and 6000.

So when this AI bubble inevitable shits itself and explodes all these dog shit failure companies that go up will be sitting on truckloads of no longer usable components and trying to liquidate. That means the market will be flooded with stuff that will be dirt cheap, r-right?

> ram often is quite difficult to insert into the slot
> Make sure you're doing that on a hard surface,
Make sure your motherboard is carried by the mounting holes when putting any pressure on it. Install it on the mounting tray of the case or temporarily on a test bench before you work on it. I use the removable tray of an old server case to prepare my motherboards before installing them in cases that have fixed trays.

Cyberpunk 2077 in 4k on a 4090 won't run 120 instead of just 100 fps just because you use DDR5.
I don't believe this. Inb4 synthetic benchmarks.

There is no reality free of any bottlenecks.
20% better performance is only real in your head.
>>
>>108245100
high refresh rate is more taxing on the cpu, and the smoothness is better on a better cpu. 100 fps is not high.
you're not pushing 600 fps in cs2 with an i3/r3 and a 5090.

This is what I noticed myself when migrating from AM4 to AM5 with my 4090.
But It doesn't feel even nearly like "20% better performance". It was rather underwhelming desu. My OCed 5800X3D and Samsung B-die did such a marvelous job. A dream team! Now serving as a secondary gaming rig in my vacation home with a 5070Ti. I wouldn't need more just for gaming.

Jensen called me last night, he wasn't in a very good mood because of "stock woes" so I consoled him. I assured him he's doing a good job and that the chips will eventually make themselves. And that the 4090 was divine.

Things started deteriorating when he mentioned something about Sam Altman raping one of his employees. "PR is in trouble. PR is in trouble." he kept repeating while tweaking two fists near his face, looking fixated at the floor.

Gave him a glass of chocolate milk and he thanked me. And went to bed.

Good lad.
