The only case where you should buy an ipad is if you already own an iphone, iwatch, airpods, and macbooks or imacs for your home computer(s). If you're steeped in the apple ecosystem, enjoy. But otherwise the Samsung tablets are generally better all around for their price.

And in some respects the Samsung tablets are demonstrably better, like watching movies. Samsung also gives microSD storage unlike apple so you CAN buy a 256GB tablet and throw another 1-2TB in there later instead of getting raped by the apple NAND tax.

Samsung is an incompetent company that ruins the perfectly adequate AOSP base for no reason and their security is a pathetic theatre. They break the Android security model by keeping the keystore keys on their servers. They break Android app management model by killing all apps in the background to inflate their battery life claims. They introduce multiple attack vectors not present in AOSP for no reason. And their UI is ugly as fuck and violates material design principles. Unfortunately Google doesn't make Pixel tablets. I'm not counting that old Tensor G2 piece of shit with 60Hz display they released years ago as a usable device in the current year.Apple on the other hand despite being a walled garden, makes sure your garden is prim and proper. The devices are secure and just werk. I've used two Samsung devices because I got memed into buying the latest and greatest and both were miserable experiences. On the other hand I've had nothing but a great time using iOS devices and LineageOS. Pixels too, shitty Tensor notwithstanding.
