>Fall for the linux memebattery life 30% worse than windows>just install TLPperformance 40% worse than windows
>>108272928Lol I have the Aspire 5. The battery life was only marginally worse on Linux but had better performance than Windows. The real issue with that laptop is the nonexistent Realtek driver for audio, so audio was kinda quiet until the 45-50 mark.
>>108272928Wasn't the case for all my lenovosMore like 90% battery and 180% performance compared to windows. But on my gayming HP laptop it's not good because nVidia and proprietary ACPI instructions (stilll in fucking 2026) are all closed source and not standardized by any means.>AcerAlways fucking sucked at everything
>>108272928that's the price of freedom
been using gahnoo slash linux across many different laptops for like 15 years already, never had to complain about battery life at all
>>108273050>that's the price of free suply chain attacks
>>108273099>a-actually the proprietary spyware is more "secure" so it's good
>>108272928except you're lying
>>108272928>battery life 30% worse than windowsLiterally the opposite for me.
>>108272928>aspire 3aren't those laptops cheap shit on par with a chromebook?
>>108272928>install fedora>it just werks>better battery life and performance than windows
>>108272928>>Fall for the linux memeWelcome bro <3 hope you have a great time. Which distro?
>>108272928nice pichttps://www.pcworld.com/article/699203/best-laptops-under-500.html
>>108273694they're not that bad lol its a nice mid tier laptop thats perfect for grandma, mom, and students alike...though the laptop build quality is a little bad. the bottom part flexes when you apply a little pressure
use a cpu scheduler like bpfland or lavd and set your power profile and the scheduler to power saving mode. also add rcutree.enable_rcu_lazy=1 to your boot parameters, ever so slight performance impact for way more battery. my battery lasts way longer than it did on windows and unlike windows i dont notice any performance loss using power saving profiles either, though i dont use flatpaks or anything like that
>>108272928install temple OS
>>108273554It actually is.
>>108272928>battery life 30% worse than windowsWould now be the time to point out that microsoft doesn't handle shit like drivers for power handling, they get handed code by companies like intel and acer...I'm sure if they'd give the same code to linux, it'd get used. So what actually happens is a group o nerds in their bedrooms build it from scratch. As for decreased battery life... The only way you actually make that battery last longer is by eating less energy out of it. That means it'll be gettin' throttled at leat 30% to achieve this...>performance 40% worse than windowsIt ups the battery life by throttling things. You can make it throttle less, but with natural consequence of battery consumption...
>>108274799Security through obscurity isn't something anyone that actually understands security would rely upon, even nested in layers. This has been amply demonstrated. There are too many examples to fit in this text box, and that's just windows.
>>108272928bro just cripple your cpu cap it at 700mhz, dim your screen at 5%, turn off wifi bluetooth ethernet, disable the soundcard, use an external monitor, dont use a desktop environment, kill all your user processes, and here you go full battery life just like Windows, dont be a hater bro Linux is superior bro
Ignore troonix and use windows 10 LTSC.
>>108273725ill tell you when you stop misgendering me
>>108274903You are clearly missing the point. What I mean is that the bazaar development model most prominent in FOSS movements is a security issue of its own.Additionally, to the terrible security model, or shall I say, non-existent security model of the FOSS world it is a very obvious lack of streamlining and standardizing which widens attack area exponentially.
>>108272928You should've bought a MacBook if you care about battery life, we don't give a fuck about it
>>108274928Just use 11 IOT LTSC. It doesn't have any of the slopware people complain about in normal 11.
>>108272928>he thought to use trannux in the year of 2000+20+6 was a good idea
>>108275065>win7 calc>no dark mode notepadno thanks
>>108275025>is a security issue of its own.In what capacity?>>108275097Why not it's been a good idea up until now.
>>108272928RIP LINUX
