You dont need more than 240hz on a monitor.
>>
What we need is a microled tv at 1khz using pulsar like technology boosting pixels extremely bright for a short window without degradation

I look like that

valve did a study and it said 90hz is the minimum required refresh rate to prevent motion sickness when using vr. they also specifically use 90hz displays on the oled too and really anything below 90hz feels bad so it makes sense

There is an important thing about those 90 vr frames that almost everyone misses. 90hz is enough ONLY if it's using <1ms MPRT, or aka with BFI/ULMB techniques. That creates realistically clear motion while being fast enough to largely eliminate flicker.
Fun *technology connection* btw, guess what was the most common refresh rate for PC CRTs? 85hz.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sb_7uN7sfTw uhmm actually I need a 39620 hz monitor
>>
>>108273819
The radiation is blocked on the front. As long as you dont stand on the side of the monitor you're fine.
>>
>>108273578
i only have a 1440p 210 hz monitor because i cheaped out

that said i dont really play any games where i'd get much more than that on a 5070ti and 9800x3d
>>
>>108273578
I bought a 540hz monitor just to quit gaming 6 months later. There is definitely a difference though. Even compared to 360hz.

>60hz
ahh, perfection
>>
No I don't.
I have a 360hz monitor and sure, there's some difference there, but I can barely appreciate it.
I should have gone for a 4k 240hz instead of 1440p 360hz monitor.
It's not like I can play cybercrap at more than 150fps anyways
>>
>>108276222
why are you conflating your inability to buy a better gpu with what hz monitor should have
>>
These >120hz numbers are meaningless. No monitor technology except maybe oleds can produce that sharp of a falloff and calling some backlight strobe rate a refresh rate is just plain retarded.

You don't need to post little cartoon girls on an anonymous imageboard all day every day, but you'll never stop because you think being annoying is funny

reminder 99.99% of humanity literally cannot tell the difference beyond 120hz.
>>
>>108273997
For desktop work CRT looked like ass at 60Hz back in the day. I remember all the fucking classrooms and public spaces with computers had them set to 60 (sometimes even 50 for some god forsaken reason) and I always went to the settings to set it to 85 Hz though in some rare cases the monitor did not support it. I dunno if flicker is the right word but closest I can think of for why 60 looked bad. Like it would make my eyes tired from looking at it. It was completely fine on TVs and such that played "fuzzier" content from a distance.
>>
>>108273997
Yep 85hz was the most common. 60hz was just eye rape.
I remember a few years later being bothered about emulation, tearing and sound crackling in regards to the refresh rate of the fucking monitor. Good lord. RetroArch saved me from that hell that long ago.

you also don't need more than 24in 1080p
>>
>don't need
True about a lot of things.
Still have them though because I want them.
>>
>>108273578
That's an overkill, 140 Is the top and 120 Is acceptable
>>
>>108276642
>I dunno if flicker is the right word
sounds correct
if you looked at it with your peripheral vision, you could actually see it flashing
>>
I can't tell a difference above 120 hz and 165hz modes on my monitor
>>
>>108273578
I agree, and I'd even go as far as saying that 120Hz should not only be standard but the ceiling for anything non-niche.
"Competitive" Overwatch players (aka: transgenders) do not apply
