I remember years and years of posting about how China was investing heavily in tech, how they were going to be the pioneers for the foreseeable future because America was torpedoing its domestic industry and all the scientists and tech workers were fleeing the country, yada yada. Look at this image from 2022.

Now I go look up some lists of the best AIs available today and it's all just the same four in various orders:
>ChatGPT (American)
>Gemini (American)
>Copilot (American)
>Claude (American)

Was I a victim of propaganda all along?
>>
I wish there was a Japanese IA model. Japan just doesn't care about technology outside video games. Sony/Toshiba/Panasonic have all given up on mostly everything.
>>
>>108274875
Yeah but chineese are stealing US models to train (distil) their chink shit models and call it their own as usual.
>>
>>108274875
>>ChatGPT (American)
>>Gemini (American)
>>Copilot (American)
>>Claude (American)

That's the least important thing in artificial intelligence, LLM for collecting data from retards. It performs the same function as Google, Meta, etc.
The AI that matters is real-time facial recognition AI, for example, where China is infinitely more advanced than the US.
Industrial AI applications in the real economy is the real race.
>>
>>108274921
>facial recognition AI, for example, where China is infinitely more advanced than the US.
That is categorically untrue.
>>
>>108274939
Sense Time is the global leader in this field. It is headquartered in Beijing. I have only given one example, but other examples would be the use of AI to create new chemical molecules, where China is also the clear leader.
>>
>>108274875
Oh yeah when you open up arxiv and see Tian Chen and Yu Sheng from University of Beijing, you know you're about to read some groundbreaking truth that'll change the world
>>
>>108274898
>stealing
Remind me, amersraeli mutt, how much did "open"ai pay to aquire all those copyrighted materials they used for training?
>>
>>108274987
look they even try to copy our vernacular!

can you even pronounce "vernacular"? (you can't)
>>
>>108274939
it's true, they need that tech to tell themselves apart
>>
>>108274875
anon you are conflating research with product in the amrkets, who invest heavily in research will get the future market, while the ones who expend all money in offering something now will get the current one
long term vs short term

No, Japanese companies are run by old men because they’re insanely hierarchical. They have trouble using a phone, forget about a computer, and new tech like LLMs? Good luck.
Everything takes 5 years to get translated and enough people using it before they can offer the idea inside their company - even then only if the middle manager can be convinced.

When I arrived in Japan, they were 15 years behind western countries. When returning to western countries, it’s taken me 2 years to catch up.

Japan will never catch up because that’s taking a risk. Japanese never take risks.
>>
>>108274875
never heard of a single eu ai
>>
>>108274875
They did it by importing chinese researchers
>>
all the money is in burgerland so they get the best people
>>
>>108274875
>Copilot
Who the fuck uses this piece of shit?
>>
>>108274875
all of those american models you listed were built by mathematicians and researchers that china sent over here for schooling, americans themselves only had a hand in the business aspect of it. right now those chinese researchers are using american companies to pay for their research and funneling that research back over there from the large corporations. at any moment they could all be recalled and the american tech conglomerates would crash while the chines ones would thrive.
>>
>>108277177
Japan is a culture of stagnant autists who hate change unless done so at gun point.
>>
>>108278952
Sure, Chang. Yet you can't design chips to save yourselves. That makes sense.
>>
>>108274875
>Best AI's available
>Copilot
>Chatgpt
I think you've been propagandized recently rather than formerly.
>>
>>108274898
Provided this is exactly what's happening it's quite literally no different than what OpenAI, Google, etc are doing. They're just scraping the entire web and paying nothing. Then getting angry when they get distilled. It's peak hypocrisy.
>>
>>108274875
>Was I a victim of propaganda all along?

-You were a victim of propaganda
-You are also a victim of thinking AI is the only tech that matters (also propaganda)
-That's okay, most of the population has been hoodwinked as well.

The entire scare of the AI race will be studied like the red scare of the 60s was: Just another excuse to rob the US populace and treasury and give it all to military contractors and Israel

Of the current US produced models only Claude is worth a shit for meanginful tasks. The rest make shit up constantly.
Meanwhile Kimi, and GLM are both great Chinese models. Maybe minimax too, but I haven't tested it.
>>
>>108279627
Gemini is good too, my little negro.
>>
>>108274875
And to add insult to injury, all the best Chinese models are just distilled American models.

another proof the big brains are in Europe

its the same in all their universities, they had financial incentives for just volume of patents filed, hilarious really

the company I'm working for implemented Mistral OCR and it's the best thing we have ever used compared to previous commercial software

Claude thinks it's DeepSeek if you prompt in Chinese
>>
>>108277181
all your ((( American ))) AI companies are filled with European engineers/scientists. remove Europeans and you have nothing.
but why are Europeans doing it in the US than in EU then? well, the US has infinite Jewish money. that's why.
>>
>>108280540
Any LLM driven OCR would be better than previous context ignorant solutions
Doesn't mean Mistral is good

no you misunderstand, they get a direct cash injection if they file patents specifically, although i think the practice is ending it's been that way for ages
>>
>>108280803
>>108280545
LLMs are essentially token predictors, so they try to predict the next word based on the corpus of textual data they're trained on. Unless they're told that they're roleplaying as "X chatbot assistant," they're going to say that they're deepseek or chatgpt if they get most of their training data by distilling those models

The fun part is that China is getting all of the internal data of AI companies through Chinese workers there. These companies assumed that they could purchase loyalty with stock options and free sodas. Now they're discovering their companies are full of moles but they don't know which Chinese they are and they've made themselves too dependent on imported labor to just fire them all (plus it would violate all kinds of DEI laws). "China is scraping our data" is a laughable cover for what's really happening to those companies.
>>
>>108279500
So what you're saying is that Japan needs to be nuked again, for its own good? Between the end of the war and the start of the century, Japan became incredibly innovative and industrious, only to turn into the stagnant pond they are now.
>>
>>108274875
This statistic is misleading. Almost all papers in USA are written by chinese people. Chinese people completely dominate AI. They can flip to china very quickly since they are chinese.
>>
>>108277181
Stability. The diffusion image model stuff came from Europe.
>>
>>108281464
you're wasting time trying to provide these guys with real facts, they're just going to call you chang and call this ccp propaganda. they're frogs in a pot of slowly boiling water.
>>
>>108274875
All of those models are based on DeepSeek, and the real DeepSeek that only the CCP has access to has already been proven to be leagues ahead of even the best american SOTA models.

AI research has very little to do with the scientists working on it and more to do with how much cash you spend on a datacenter to train trillions of parameters big models, and only US has the money and stupidity to buy up every RAM and GPU to build new supercomputer every week.
