I have been using BlueClover with the webview hack to lurk the site and occasionally post since not being able to upload imaged and having the captcha reset on every thread is annoying as fuck. Learning that someone fixed Clover AND updated the code to make it easier to maintainin the future (this is why K1 decided to make KurobaEx from scratch and why Ponydev ragequit) has made my day.

The app freezes for a moment when it opens and closes a file, and images can't be zoomed in.- The entire thread refreshes when you open it from the catalog or from the bookmarks, and sometimes when a new post is made.- Sometimes the watcher doesn't update when new posts are made and seen until you open a different thread and return to the previous thread.
Wish the image issue would get fixed (stuttery opening/closing, some images like OP's display strangely and can't be zoomed in), but apart from that it's great.

Oh god it's so fucking overI started having problems with posting again. When I click on post, it puts me in an infinite loop. There's the status indicator circle, which goes up to 100% quickly (if there's an image with the post, else it just appears), the posts webview gets empty for a moment and reappears, then it starts again and again and again. It is not possible to interrupt it in any way. Then it crashes.I had a problem like this the other day, where the entire app kept crashing after this whenever I tried to post. It was right after I updated to the latest version, so I downgraded back, but it didn't solve the issue. It just went away on its own. It feels as if it had to do with some kind of captcha response it's not prepared for, but I don't know. I'm not on the latest version for now.Is anyone else having this issue?

Or, as a workaround, add a button or something that would filter the catalog on just the highlighted threads?

Wow, after all these years (2014!) the codebase is still alive. Very good to see!(I visit /g/ rarely these days)I have to say that this truly is a testament to simplicity. In the end the Java codebase didn't use fancy UI frameworks. It didn't add over-complicated features (you have to say no sometimes). What I did do is to try and keep things simple. But also fast when needed. For example (unless that's changed now) the parsing of HTML is processed in multiple threads. There's a special text view that is optimized to be much quicker in rendering than Android's default text view. Large images are decoded in background threads and shown in a chunked, subsampled way. Database access was done in a background thread, where if possible the UI thread could move on while the background thread did work. I often did performance tests of Clover on old devices I had lying around.I also made sure to add proper animations in a time when the Android animation framework was just plain bad. Apple's framework was much better (I implemented a version of the viewcontroller framework iOS used). The zoom in/out animation when tapping a thumbnail took way too much time to do (AndroidUtils.waitForMeasure magic). Avoiding any form of single frame flickering was so hard to do.What ruined it for me in the end was the endless stream of new shiny ways Google forced developers to use (the file sharing API stuff was the worst). To abandon and change course two years later anyway. And of course Google kicking Clover off the store.Anyway, long live Clover and long live GPL.
