FAQ:
>How do I activate Windows?
HWID2 generates and registers a permanent legitimate license on MS's activation servers
github.com/massgravel/Microsoft-Activation-Scripts
Usage: paste this into Powershell, run.

irm https://get.activated.win | iex

>and Office?
Same link, select Ohook option
You can also use Office.com if your needs are very minimal
or try OnlyOffice/LibreOffice and set it to save in MSOffice file formats

>What version should I install?
>W10 Enterprise IoT LTSC 2021
Binary identical to Enterprise except no MS Store or apps
Preinstalled with: Edge & Win32 system apps
10 years support on "IoT LTSC", 5 for "LTSC"
Manual version upgrades

>W11 Enterprise IoT LTSC 2024
Same as W10 version except:
UI written in React Native aka JavaScript including: Start, Taskbar and Explorer that lags even on i9s
Use only if you fell for the 12th+ gen Intel meme and need the new CPU scheduler
Wait for IoT LTSC 2027 if you can

>Installing apps on LTSC
Use WinGet/Scoop or install MS Store in CMD with: wsreset -i

>W11 Home/Pro/Education/Enterprise/Enterprise IoT
Preinstalled with: Edge, Win32 system apps, MS Store, OneDrive, Weather, Movies, Music, Candy Crush, etc
Auto-reinstalls apps on feature updates

I really can't decide if I should move to Linux or stay on Windows. Both are cool, both have pros and cons. Linux is such a hassle to maintain and do things, and everything feels like it's going to fall apart at any moment, but at least nobody pushes anything onto my system without my consent. Suddenly there is an "AI actions" option in my context menu on windows. It seems I can't get rid of this. Does someone have this on LTSC? I'm using Windows 11 Education.

don't install anything super new, browse the comments for the download. there's no panacea here, if you're using warez on xp be prepared to potentially get infected. if you are insistent on using xp it's better to have an alternate, ideally airgapped computer that hosts any data you actually care about, like banking account passwords or tax documents or whatever.

Double check your sources and what you're downloading or torrenting. There's always a non-zero chance even the ones you trust might suddenly go schizo, however unlikely that might be, but as long as you aren't blindly clicking every ruski crack or whatever then you should be fine.

download them on a different computer and transfer them with a flash drive. if it's not working you probably don't have the right drivers. you only need to get either the lan or wireless drivers working to get the other one to work via windows update so try both and you'll probably get lucky with one or the other.

I need some help. Which setting ensures Num Lock stays on? I installed Iot LTSC and it repeatedly turns it off whenever Windows enters rest mode or something like that
>>
>>108344941
Looking around it seems to be a registry value you change to make NumLock stay on through boots.

Also make sure that fast boot's turned off.

How do you expect random ass audio to be turned into MIDI? No shot. Even if there is something it probably has terrible results.
>>
>>108346139

that's not really a thing. midi is sequenced and is generally created by hand. an automated program trying to do it would probably do a poor job. except maybe some ai thing, i guess that could possibly work.
>>
>>108346171
automatic conversion to midi has been a thing for a long time, i remember using programs for this nearly 30 years ago, the results were of course quite mixed, and usually required either inputs with clean, single-instrument compositions, or manual cleanup afterwards
i imagine there is better software to do it now, but it's a pretty niche thing so i haven't looked into what progress may have been made. naturally i stopped looking into it once i was able to download/store mp3's or better, as i'm not interested in music editing/production

>>108349354
Alright it will stay off
But here is one thing I’m thinking about: the Num Lock is on on startup. I can go through password normally.
The issue is that it gets automatically turned off ass soon as I go through that password or when it enters rest mode, stuff like that. As if the Windows defaults to turning it off.
>>
>>108349405
afaik you can only configure the post-login behavior for numlock in windows. anything pre-login has to be configured at the bios level and if it's not available in your bios you're out of luck. i'm not 100% sure about this but i had a similar problem with a very old mini-laptop i own.

What image viewer do you use? I have Irfanview set up like this. It works fine for the most part except for two things, one of which is browsing WebP files (even with the plugin, I have to manually load them. They don't appear when I'm using the arrow keys) and the images don't look as sharp as other viewers.

On the other hand, those other viewers also have their issues. ImageGlass used 300-400MB of RAM while loading the same image as Irfanview, and the UI was also sluggish. I found another one called QView but it doesn't have some of the Irfanview features I use. And so on...
