Where can I get a wholesale (50-100pcs) of a cable like pic rel, with USB-A/USB-C?Specifically, with the naked USB-A connector. If it can do the full spectrum of USB-C functions, it would solve a number of problems for me and I'd be willing to deal with What apps Chinglish. If power only, I'd still want 50 or so

Day 10 of not getting to spend my gems
RTL8127 NIC arrived.
>>108331516Keep us posted
>>108331606The card works just fine on Windows 11. This card replaced a TP-Link TG-3468 v2 NIC which was based on RTL8168E. I was working fine, but only with the NDIS driver because they didn't port RTL8168E driver to NetAdapterCx. Could be some technical reason why it was not possible, but oh well. It served me well, and I will keep it in case I need it for another older machine. All I did was I uninstalled the NDIS driver that Realtek provided. The card works just fine with that as well. After I uninstalled there's an old driver that comes with Windows 11, which doesn't support the RTL8127. I do get a link with that, but only 2.5GbE.You have the right driver if in Device Manager you get this: Realtek PCIe 10GbE Family ControllerHere's some hardware IDs, basically it uses standard Realtek PID and VID: PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8127&SUBSYS_012310EC&REV_05It doesn't run hot and heatsink is only warm to the touch, so the power consumption is as advertised.
>>108331742Sounds like it was a good purchase.
>>108331606>>108331742Currently I have it in a PCI-E Gen3 x1 slot, so there's a bottleneck, but I will upgrade eventually soon, so it is not an issue.Realtek UEFI UNDI Option ROM version is 2.075, outdated but that's because the PCB has a date code of 2543, which does match with the UEFI UNDI Driver which was available at that time.Haven't tried Linux yet, but should be fine with any distro with kernel version 6.16 or higher.
>>108331753Box got crushed a bit during shipping and they ripped off Intel NIC boxes. There's a scratch on the plastic of the ethernet transformer. Oh, the sticker with the driver link is not alive anymore because Realtek messed with the site. Not really an issue, just nitpicking.

My review of common USB battery powered soldering iron ~13€It works okay but the run time is very short and charge is long. Description sounds like 8w charging, battery1000mah, 90min charge time, but that's impossible. 8w would be 30min charge time. The real charge wattage is 2w as much my measurement (pic). The small pcb in the pic takes three charges to complete so a lot of waiting. If it could draw 8-10w to charge you could use it with a charger continuously, but as it is, you cannot and have to wait at 3 hours for a small project. The kit otherwise is decent, solder and rosin is OK. Just a shame they cheaped out on a 2W charge chip instead of a 10-15W one that would not only charge faster but let you use it would make it so much better. Tried to take it apart but couldnt do it without too much destruction.

>>108348813for a base you're probably better off looking locally, for example you could look for used SFF workstations (already include the case, motherboard, power supply, cooler etc.), thin clients etc. Businesses dump a ton of used stuff like that for cheap. But ali is a great source of old used Xeon CPUs. I wouldn't buy any chink motherboards though. As an example, last year I built a cheap emulation box from SFF HP Z240 (40€), low profile 750ti (50€), 2x8GB DDR4 ECC (28€ back then, yeah, i know...) and Xeon E3-1270 v6 from ali (30€). You can probably get even cheaper, this build was very specific as it was to be plugged to CRT so it required a particular dedicated low profile GPU that could output TV signals, so i paid a bit premium for an old GPU.Going for a newer platform with an integrated GPU would probably be more cost efficient, the base itself could be much more compact if it doesn't need to accommodate PCIe cards, so basically the thin clients, mini pcs etc.
