TLDR: source code of Legacy Console Editions, Pocket Edition, and beta builds of Minecraft spin-offs were leaked
LCE now has an active community that tries to make the old version compatible with PCs (it's already playable, but multiplayer and other features need extra work)
>wasn't Java Edition already public?
yeah but this is LCE we're talking about, a version of the game written in C++ with various exclusive features that were never present on Java

thread's about development of fork(s) of the game

Why fork a proprietary code base when FOSS clones exist?
>>
>>108339531
Luanti (dead name: minetest) fucking sucks
not sure about any other free clones of Minecraft. Classicube is only MC Classic, right?
>>
>>108339531
>why fork macOS when Minix exists?

lmfao
>>
>>108339512
Is minecraft complicated, programming wise? Sounds like a simple program, with perhaps one complex algorithm to handle the huge editable world, but that already exists on the million open sores clones. It's not like WinXP leak either, that have lots of people trying to write compatibility stuff for it because legacy software. I don't see what's the big deal about this leak.
>>
>>108339512
I always loved the legacy console editions I was pissed when they stopped working
>>
>>108339542
wouldn't it be easier to fork these foss clones and make them less sucky instead of working with source you can't even legally distribute?
>>
>>108339562
>I don't see what's the big deal about this leak
for some fucking reason gamepad controls in LCE haven't been implemented in any other version of the game
Bugrock is MCPE with barely any changes, making basic things like crafting more difficult
afaik the most "complete" Java mod for gamepad controls is compatible only with "Better than Adventure" mod, which is intentionally on b1.7.3
>>
>>108339573
Classicube is Classic, which is literally 2009 version of the game
Luanti/minetest's codebase is cancerous and is centered around Lua modding and not "complete gameplay"
Drew DeVault's projects never fucking worked properly
Cavex is just a PoC

>>108339512
we already have enough worthless shitheads trying to attentionwhore for the last week in these threads. take this shit to /v/ or stop making them entirely
>>
Honestly there's too much shit in all of these newer versions. The 2012-13 Xbox 360 updates were enough. Forgot what number version it was on pc
>>
>>108340524
1.6 probably

>The 2012-13 Xbox 360 updates were enough. Forgot what number version it was on pc
Xbox 360 started on b1.6 and in 2013 ended with r1.2 equivalent
leaked code is r1.6 from 2014

oh wow, i expected more minecraft clones to exist rather than just... classicube and luanti, is that really it when it comes to FOSS clones??
>>
Minetest is better. Who cares?
>>
>>108339512
I'm not v gamer.
Does that thing (leak?) have anything interestin/g/, like strange or well engineered code, "unreleased" stuff for nostalgia purposes, etc?

Is there anyone on youtube talking about that?
>>
>>108343130
tmk all talk is going into the forks right now
>>
>>108339517
>>108339530
/v/ is not for discussing programming. You could have at least posted >>>/vg/agdg since that's at least close but still wrong.
Awful poster.

Where did you obtain the original TU19 Minecraft Legacy Console Edition source code first and they were leaked the source code file on 4chan with a downloadable gofile link?
>>
>>108343093
there's ClassicCraft but it's another MC Classic client lol
>>108343130
>Does that thing (leak?) have anything interestin/g/, like strange or well engineered code, "unreleased" stuff for nostalgia purposes, etc?
there's
>old tutorial world
>code related to Alpha skylands (briefly mentioned in one of Notch's blog posts)
>code related to prototype for village houses (previously we only had several screenshots showcasing them, they were one of the "holy grail"s in Minecraft Beta community)
>debug menu is Legacy Console is now properly available, previously only parts of it functioned
>>

what makes you think we discuss programming here?

>>108339542
Cope Minecel. Luanti is better.

Xbone isn't jailbreaked and you want homebrew on shitries
>>
>>108348398
just play the 360 or xbone version through BC retard
>>
>>108339531
for the love of the game. as in, its fun not the love of minecraft though thats definitely a part.

>>108339542
luanti, despite being written in lua, is still way better than any other minecraftesque game out there in both performance and gameplay. its a game engine for block games not a game itself, though minetest is sort of the most "official" version. i like mineclonia best, with the right settings it can fit in 200mb ram

>>108347068
the horizontal world size is much smaller though.
