i just noticed that some presets, if not most, use multiple system roles for their prompts, especially for claude and gemini models. thing is, most frontier models like claude or gemini rarely support multiple system prompts, and that might get deprecated later. in most cases, it just overrides the previous one, especially with claude. this makes the model feel dumb because it "forgets" what the earlier system instructions were. just use a single system role prompt and user/assistant roles in multi-turn conversations for storing lorebooks and character definitions. that's what chat prompt formatting was designed for.

By default ST and most presets have lorebook info, persona info etc set to system and by your logic those will get ignored or overridden since they're set to system. An anon a while back said set lorebooks to system so you can use caching but based on what you're saying even lorebooks need to be set to user or assistant otherwise claude will ignore them. That's a big deal. From my own testing after hundreds of messages, post history system prompt works just fine. The only thing claude occasionally forgets is to avoid writing for user, and that's even after I screamed at him in OOC depth 0.
