Don't think too much about your weakness, just try to position yourself as the best candidate as possible. If they have doubts during interview, just shrug it off with some personal excuses (I am traveling), you are not there to explain your life stories. Be confident.

>>108343405
There's no such thing as blacklisting. The most a previous employer will say is that you aren't eligible for rehire and there are many completely innocent reasons for this. Most employers will not even say that if they are big enough to have a professional HR department. Just say you took a sabbatical, you don't need to overthink this.

I enjoy shilling the military (though being an unemployed veteran doesn't really help my case) as an option to young/lost and confused people, but it's starting to seem more like the only option for anyone who didn't graduate from MIT or have good nepotism connections. This job market is real bad bros. Genuinely feels like the military is the easiest way to get a desk job at the moment, which seems... backwards.

>inb4 y-you're shilling for the military!

Yeah, that's about the stupidest thing you can do right about now. Especially coming from a vet such as yourself I would think you have some common sense.

Coming as a vet myself. Stay the fuck away from these idiots. They will promise you the world but its all lies.

If you show even a semblance of talent towards anything data and electrical related you will be the first people to be fucked over the most.

Hope you enjoy sitting in a SCIF for 12 hours a day for 5-6 days a week. While the Stacey and retard Jim in the workhshop just down the hallways gets to be off at 2PM nearly every day.

Because that's whats going happen to you smartass.

And the outside world Doesn't give a shit about you either, to you and the retard Jim. You're both the exact same. And he just got picked up for a cushy Goverment contractor job for 150k a year while you get shafted and thrown on the side walk.

Welcome to the military. The REAL nepobaby daycare center.

Just be honest? "I'm autistic and was raised by a single mother who was fine with me rotting away in my comfy bed but what I really want to do is create useful software.". In fact, former neets with tons of gaps should actually be hire valued because 1. they're willingly giving up the neet life to work totally on their own accord not because their parents force them and 2. they are far more desperate and will work harder than normgroids who probably have friends and family that loves them and shit allowing them to just throw their career away whenever they feel like, neets don't have that.

Okay I think I figured out how to bypass the commies trying to prevent poor people from starting businesses by requiring minimum wage for companies before they even have income and not after. You just start an LLC and you can hire your pals as contractors and don't have to pay them minimum wage. Who's ready to start a software company? ITwerks was already taken desu we need to call it something else.

Uhhh we need to write software for businesses. Software the saves them 100 bucks so then they pay us 50 bucks. It's going to be a 3 month contract I just need you fill out a W9 and send it over to me. We should probably use jira instead of open project for because big fancy companies use jira right?

We'll split profit evenly among all the anons until 10k sounds good? I just put that in the contractor contract right?

okay for realsies, I own the software, even split of gross revenue deduct expenses payed quarterly for uhhh five years, quit anytime. You can use jira for free for up to 10 anons so how many anons should we hire 5 or 10? Deadline is in three months and we have to invent a software for businesses and market it and everything.

you don't have to tell them where you are applying; just sugar coat it by saying you are interviewing for bunch of positions including some "backup" plans. Tell them you are applying for sales positions too so would appreciate they could highlight the team-player aspects; you are worrying too much, no one cares.

I'm going just fine with gemini-cli and the free tier. When I feel I need a bit more I just setup an API key and a 3h session around $10. Results are excellent, as long as I'm specific and give context (code, brainstorming, document parsing, query generation and more)

The worst part is everyone kicks you while you're down.
I'm doing everything I need to be doing - working on projects, applying to jobs, studying my stack, practicing leetcode. I have zero doubt in my mind that I'll get a six figure SWE job eventually. But because I don't have the results right now, and I haven't had them in months, everyone thinks I'm wasting my time. I've had braindead coworkers at my shitty part time telling me I'm wasting my time because of AI or some bullshit. They've never made more than $25 in their entire lives, but they're telling me I'm wasting my time. Even parents and family tell you the same shit. They will never understand.

It is, but you're right. Things are tough, but evidence shows the hype is stabilizing and companies are adapting to hire tech-savvy people who know how to use AI effectively and safely. New jobs will arise and others will die, just like in the industrial revolution.

Keep growing, keep learning and ignore the noise.
