usually just leave my thinkpad at work on sleep mode since booting up is leagues slower thanks to all the IT security bullshit they put on it. that habit even infected my personal machines too lol, nice to be able to laptop the minute i arrive home like a phone

they can talk about suspend to ram or sleep or halt state modes until you decide to leave

my only argument was keeping all my tabs without having to save them to a session
now both firefox and chrome have tab groups that will keep their state if you want them to, so I just shut down my computer nowadays. Besides with all the jeetware + bloatware going around, every other program has memory leaks nowadays, and there's no ram to spare too with these prices

when i use sleep mode i can just hit a key on my keyboard or mouse and it'll wake up almost instantly
if i shut down i have to (ugh) hit the power button and it takes longer
the real question is why wouldn't i use sleep mode?
