why do some spergs really do insist on using sleep mode instead of shutting down their computers overnight?
So I can get straight back to what I was doing you fuckheadfpbp and /thread
>>108344385usually just leave my thinkpad at work on sleep mode since booting up is leagues slower thanks to all the IT security bullshit they put on it. that habit even infected my personal machines too lol, nice to be able to laptop the minute i arrive home like a phone
they can talk about suspend to ram or sleep or halt state modes until you decide to leave
my only argument was keeping all my tabs without having to save them to a sessionnow both firefox and chrome have tab groups that will keep their state if you want them to, so I just shut down my computer nowadays. Besides with all the jeetware + bloatware going around, every other program has memory leaks nowadays, and there's no ram to spare too with these prices
>>108344385turning a computer on causes the most amount of stress to the motherboard components and the PSU. allowing them to cool off, heat up, cool off is bad for them.
>>108345240no it does not chemical emissions are close to zero while computer off
My work laptop has a 34 day uptime rn :3
so that I can issue wake on lan requests remotely and use Sunshine or access the smb shares 5 seconds later and not 2 minutes later
>>108344385when i use sleep mode i can just hit a key on my keyboard or mouse and it'll wake up almost instantlyif i shut down i have to (ugh) hit the power button and it takes longer the real question is why wouldn't i use sleep mode?
>>108346397Makes saars angry when their spyware starts breaking because windows will randomly have services corrupt themselvesNot a user problem if you’re tech literate and know which service to manually restart though
ironically I think it's spergy to think about it like thatno offense
