you need to be on the internet for that to work, and if you are, you need a working DNS configuration

-- if you genuinely need help;
run "ip -a", check if your network interface is present and shows it's got an ip address from your router
use ping to see if you're online, for example "ping 1.1.1.1" to check if you can ping ip addresses, and "ping 4chan.org" if you can ping DNS addresses. if only IPs work, then it depends on what you're using for DNS resolution, i don't remember what stock arch uses
if your network device doesn't appear, you may need to install a driver or firmware to get it working, iirc arch recently split firmware into multiple packages, you may need to install another one using the livecd
if it appears but has no IP, you may need to configure whatever you're using to manage your network, be it dhcpcd, networkmanger, systemd-networkd, etc.
if this all sounds too complicated, you may be better off with a distro that handles this stuff for you, rather than arch

Linux works when you’re not a retard

this looks like you're running pacman and it gave you a connection error, has nothing to do with linux if linux was at fault pacman would segfault or crash in some other way it looks like the kernel is working fine

daily drive windows or macos, and keep linux in a vm or on a separate box. this is the way.

the stuff that makes daily driving windows nice, are the same things that get in the way on linux. and vice versa: the things that make linux nice, you probably don't want on windows.
>>
>>108345889
Pretty sure you can't access the internet without a connection on windows and mac os either
>>
Your internet connection, amigo?
>>
>>108345901
i meant in the context of, its a lot easier to fix your internet with a user interface thats always available, no arcane command line neccesary, etc.

but with linux, on a technical level, it would be very annoying/fustrating if the desktop came inextricably bundled with the rest of the system.

like a command line?

Have you tried connecting to the Internet before trying to update from Internet sources?

Didn't Microsoft literally just push an update out to like everybody that made their computers refuse to boot or something?

My coworker had that problem
All he had to do was boot into safe mode and uninstall the update

You forgot to pacstrap your network management tools. This is a rite of passage on the same level as getting stuck in vim.

Could be that your wifi card is not supported by the GNU/Linux distro you're installing.
