I’m installing Linux for the first time and I want to install Arch Linux. Do I go with KDE or Hyperland?.
>>
Arch and hyprland is comfy
>>
>>108345895
Is it compatible with NVIDIA GPUs?
>>
KDE is only for jeets and hyprland is only for tranny zoomers. Gnome is what you want
>>
>>108345946
Gnome is for phones and tablets
>>
>>108345951
GNOME is designed to be used with the advanced gestures of a touchpad or keyboard shortcuts. If you are a mouse-driven user, you will indeed struggle a lot without extensions.

I prefer XFCE
>>
>>108345885
You can try both.

Have you ever used a tilling window manager? If you don't then, I recommend start with a normal floating desktop.

I suggest you install CachyOS, it is an Arch based distro and you can pick the DEs you want during the installation process

archinstall
It's that easy
>>
>>108345885
KDE. When you feel comfortable managing config files you try Hyprland.

Yes

Don't listen to these fags. Install Arch the proper way and you'll learn more.
>>
>>108346006
You learn nothing useful by manually installing Arch. Every distro is Linux under the hood and you can just learn anything Arch has to offer on any other distro, including streamlined Arches.

>>108345995
u can choose from archinstall ???
>>
>>108345885
Go with kde first. You can easily install hyprland later. If you happen to dislike hyprland, you have a good fallback already in place.

Okay, thanks man. I appreciate it.

Pick the Deepin desktop if you want a premium, eye-candy look.
>>
KDE just works. There's a reason it's the default for Steam/Valve. The only people with problems are Nvidia GPUs.

Go KDE first. It really is quite good. And easy to set up via archinstall
When you are comfortable in the terminal and using vim/neovim or emacs for text editing, you can try a tiling WM
Also watch a video on the Unix file structure (/etc /usr /var /opt /home etc) going into it. Will save you a headache
>>
Anyone who uses tiling window managers, vim, neovim, or emacs, is severely mentally ill.
>>
>>108345885
Never even heard of Hyperland.
If you plan to play games, you want KDE. Otherwise, XFCE has you covered.
>>
>>108345885
Hyperland will be difficult to get used to right away. Go with kde and try hyperland like a couple of months later.
>>
>>108346178
Do not pick the deepin desktop
>>
>>108345885
awesomewm for me, hyprland is not quite as sensible yet

but just go with kde for now
>>
>>108345885
Just go with KDE first, to get comfy with Linux. Btw are you the boy wife from /lgbt/?
>>
>>108346027
You at least learn all the individual packages that are installed over there kernel no?
>>
>>108345885
Niri
>>
>>108346195
I'm using KDE on Bazzite with a new Nvidia GPU and haven't had any issues with it in almost a year.
>>
>>108345885
hyprland is dogshit
install niri
>>
KDE Plasma comes with everything you need for a fully functional desktop. Don’t know about Hyperland, but I assume you can have both desktops installed on the same Linux install. You can usually switch between DEs in login screen.
>>
>>108345913
sort of https://wiki.hypr.land/Nvidia/
>>
>>108346078
archinstall basically gives you 90% of the same customization as manually installing arch, just that you dont have to write the commands to do everything, its in a menu.
>>
Installing a WM as a first-timer is FUCKING RETARDED. Go with KDE.
>>
I don't even know what is hyperland. Just install Xorg and Xfce4.

You are a sub-optimal being
>>
>>108345885
niri dms > hyprland
that said, if it's your first time on linux you may benefit from sticking with KDE plasma as your first DE. you are still allowed to install niri or hyprland later and select it from your login screen.
>>
>>108345885
xfce
>>

lxqt

I'm pretty sure I have a mental illness, or at least brain damage from beating my head on things as a child, but it is the ez-way niggers who have a problem because all of the people giving you an easy way want to fuck you in the ass. You're gonna have to pay for the candy on your pillow, one day, bitch.
>>
>>108345885
kde if you want a windows-like interface, hyprland if you want to larp as a hacker. I use hyprland
>>
>>108349184
This reminds me, and you won't believe it, but I just got out of jail not too long ago, and I had a cellmate named, I shit you not, "Germaine Gaye." We did not have any relations, but he was a weird motherfucker. Likely, literally.
>>
>>108345946
KDE is the only good looking DE out of the box with reasonably good and easy customization.

Hyprland is for fags, autists and jeets.
>>
>>108346260

Very true.

Although, Vim is fine if ur a codefag.
>>
>>108345885
KDE if you don't want to add tinkering on top of tinkering.
>>
i had problems with GNOME, particularly HDR
cachyOS and KDE neon have up to date KDR that's worked great with my HDR monitor and content
