>spammers have made it impossible to own your own email without it being a fucking headache and potentially being flagged as a spammer yourself
>>
if you follow the steps properly and implement all the required elements, your home email server will be just fine. i have never once had a problem sending or receiving email.

Gonna cry, dumb girl?

I had issues with my ISP but admittedly I also didn't properly configure my server/MX records fully.

I'm not sure how sussy the ISP will get if you're running a properly configured server out of your house.

>well i didn't follow all the steps or implement all the required elements, and i did have problems
great, thanks for your contribution to the conversation

Look, I didn't understand the syntax for an SPF record and none of the documentation I found gave an explanation in a way that I could make sense of.
>>
>>108347401
Is there a good article or video describing what's all required?
Wanted to try to setup my own mail server for years now but never took the time to figure out all the records and stuff you have to set up, so you don't get flagged as spam

If I return to the mail server game I'm going to go with Stalwart. It seems to generate the necessary records for your domain for you as part of the setup process and integrates with Let's Encrypt for SSL certs.

I don't understand what my ISP had a problem with. Was it the incorrectly configured server or did they not want me trafficking data over that port at all (despite not actually blocking it)?

I even tried to get the FCC involved when they cut me off the first time but the response from their side I got was something along the lines of "sorry, that's how it is" from their regional manager or whoever and I couldn't actually get my response to anyone technical enough to understand.

>spammer does the same steps
your response?

Then you'd have to ask what big email providers are doing to keep their nose clean and how accessible it is for individuals to set themselves up the same way.

Because if spammers are able to (or willing to) emulate what major email providers do and have their activities fly under the radar then there will be an uptick in spam that gets through and/or good emails being false positive'd.

The endgame is when the measures that small mail servers have to take in order to be recognized as legitimate by other receivers is unattainable and only big players can employ the necessary methods to be whitelisted.

then the spammer spams and gets flagged as a spammer. are you misunderstanding something? why did you ask such a useless question?
>>
Even if your ISP is fine with it now they can block you at any time without warning if somebody starts spamming in the same range as you, your best bet is renting a Cpanel instance, it just works and it is cheap as fuck.
>>
>>108347718
you dumbass
>a spammer does the same thing as you
>the only difference is the domain
>everyone sees the spammer spams
>everyone sees that you appear almost the same and might as well be a clandestine spammer
>>
>>108347161
dumbass
>>
>>108347789
anon... the only difference between EVERYONE is the domain. whether its you and a spammer or you and Google.
i am confused why you think a server at a completely different address would have anything remotely to do with you on your own address.
>>
how do you even run a home email server? i thought every ISP blocked the port for it

You are now aware why everybody just uses Teams.

This spf etc entries are not hard OP however we are at a point where email is a compromised technology. Interestingly normies are reverting back to making phone calls for anything of consequence.

Don't fall for this bait. If you're hosting from a no-no AS or your IP is niggerlisted, nothing you do will fix it. People say this stupid shit, a moron sets it up on a vps and then they're surprised no one receives their email.

Why does people hate teams?

I mean you can't remove the fat take control toolbar on pop-ups but whatever
