Where did you get this pic of me?
>>
Prefer base Arch personally. Cachy just tries to juice performance out of my system and I'm not a big enough gamer to care about that.
>>
>>108350633
Take a look at the sponsors of CachyOS, you won't use it anymore.
>>
why does cachyos buck breaks so many Arch fags? Is it because their hard-to-use distro is being used by normies?
Or is it because now that many people are using Arch as their base, they're realizing Arch isn't anything special?
>>
>>108350633
Yup that's me. It was a convenient arch installer with presents I liked.

I seriously can't get my head around (((cachyos))). It's fine, i'ts an ok distro, but other than being "Arch for retards" I don't get the popularity. Literally every other non-meme distro can get the same performance, at least within the margin of error. All of the messing around the cachyos devs do seem like snake oil to me. The standard Kernel works, the standard Proton and Proton GE work, the standard Arch packages work. Why re-invent the wheel and introduce even more fragmentation?

how2dual boot install? (using primarily Windows, specific accounting software only works there)
USB stick and Yumi?
do I need separate drive?

Because most of the defaults besides the "optimizations" are fine for most people. By choosing the "default" options, you get btrfs + snapper (bootable snapshots with working rollback, like openSUSE) all set up for you and a bunch of other small things to get you started. It's stuff a lot of arch users do install anyways.

I'd use Arch with CachyOS repos if I didn't main my own distro

nothing special, other distro users have been buck breaking arch fags for decades because arch was always used by retards, now normies as well.

I tried it yesterday the performance increase from regular Arch is mostly placebo also some of my games and even just normal desktop use was stuttering randomly.

I prefer the minimalism of Arch, I like knowing what is on my computer CachyOS has too much going on, it is bloated basically.

If you wan't to try it you can always just use the repos as they have a script for existing Arch installations, but from what I could tell it makes little to no perceivable difference in gameplay and it can cause stuttering for some reason.

If you want an easy Arch install use archinstall if you want gaming performance in an easy way use ProtonUp-Qt and GameMode along with Steam.

CachyOS is really not needed although I do appreciate what they are doing and for people coming from Windows CachyOS is very helpful especially the way they offer multiple desktop environments and window managers.

tl;dr if you know how to run Arch you don't need CachyOS.

>>108352403
its just arch without the extra work (even if that is not much). arch is a distro that actually works so I get why its popular
>>
>>108353713
any stuttering is probably from the different cpu scheduler with your hardware and maybe from ananicy being enabled by default. did you try any of the scx schedulers? if its shader compilation stutters you can try the async patched dxvk flags for proton cachyos, or if its large file texture stutters like in monster hunter the adios io scheduler can help. you shouldnt need to use gamemode with cachyos just set your power plan to performance and raise your gpu power limits with lact (set the gpu profile to manual/compute if you want to overclock or undervolt your gpu)

how I personally do it (and to prevent windows from fucking up your bootloader) is via separate drives. then copy the "Microsoft" directory from the windows efi partition to /boot/EFI/Microsoft directory on the linux efi partition. from then on just always boot into linux and its bootloader will detect windows and add it to the menu automatically (at least with systemd-boot)
>>
I use slackware btw
>>
>>108353790
I didn't use gamemode with cachy it said it will cause conflicts I just used the game-performace command on steam it just swaps the pc to performance mode so you don't have to do it manually and you don't forget when you are gaming.

I just used it out of the box installed a few packages and played games for a day and then decided to go back to Arch.
