Don't you ever find it strange that when you hover over a YouTube video's thumbnail, it now plays on its own, sounds blaring, instantaneously -- and yet when you click into the video itself, it took 1 whole minute until it finally starts playing?
Turn it off
>>108350896No I use invidious
>>108350904This, most retards don't know how to even get to his youtube settings.
>>108350904That's not the point. The playback is so silky smooth on the homepage, and yet once you enter the video, suddenly the video takes 2 business days to load. It's curious.
>>108351062Well, think about it. What do you see on the homepage vs the video page that would need to be loaded?
>thumbnail preview is 80p at 200bps, can load six gorillion previews in two seconds>video itself is 4K at 90000 niggerbytes/secgee OP idk
>>108351062That's the magic of indian devs.
>>108350896the adware takes load priority as you have noticed, it starts buffering and playing the moment the react spa blob "loads" the video page
>>108350896No i have premium
>>108351074Something about the complexity of what’s already on the home page before you click on the video. This shit reeks of poorly optimized web junk. Web programmers once again showing that they have no idea how to optimize anything. The fucking video streaming technology that powers the primary feature that users actually care about is more complicated than the web page, yet it’s still more performant than the web page. Wonder why, not really.
>>108350896>page loads full preview after it finally stops shitting itself trying to spam malware>Sar why does this happen?I am unsure, sar./
>>108350896It's because you have an adblock and the Jews don't like it.
they are offering performance as an incentive to shell out goybux for premium and not use firefox. that last part should be made illegal soon.but unfortunately they forgot that i was raised on dialup and 00's youtube which buffered every fucking 3 seconds and you couldn't scrub through it with their original player at all without it buffering every click, even if that section of video was already loaded, unless you waited for it to 100% load the entire video first.
>>108350896No but I do find it strange that simply hovering over the thumbnail will make the video autoplay and inserts itself into your watch history when I literally did not consent it to do soThis is how they pad out video performance metrics
>>108350896video isn't playing at 4k in a rinky dink thumbnail. You're probably loading a file 30X larger after clicking
>>108351062I think this is because loading the video launches an entire web application whereas the preview you get is just a smooth video stream. Yes, this site and literally ever other corporate internet site could work 10x better. The answer is for people to make what they want and share it. We have the ability now. As more vibe-coded tools emerge without the pure enshittification UI and performance the big boys will either fail or be forced to conform to their competition. The most important thing is to use better tools when someone else makes them. The main issue with competing with lousy big services is that the users are incredibly lazy and brand-addicted. To remedy this you need a superior experience - which is easy, but also a KILLER FEATURE.It's sort of like old school video game consoles. Certain games are the "killer app" that become unit sellers. People buy the system for that game. Your app/web service needs to have that killer app feature that compels people to use it. This should be your main consideration when launching a new tool.A better internet is right around the corner if you want it to be.
>>108350896>>108351062>and yet when you click on the video itself, it takes a whole minute until it finally starts playingBecause it's trying to load ads before playing the actual video assuming you have an ad blocker turned on.>>108350933Invidious doesn't even work properly, I usually get these messages:>Companion is starting. Please wait until a valid potoken is found.>Error while communicating with Invidious companion Error connecting to 'invidious-tunnel-08 8282' Connection refused>This helps protect our community. Learn moreAll I can say is that this video preview feature makes it easier to selectively choose which ones to watch and which ones to avoid. On the other hand, what about other video platforms? I wish VidLii properly worked on LG TV (it used to, but then I had to use embed mode just to watch videos, since they suddenly became invisible while the audio could still be heard playing).
>>108353388>Invidious doesn't even work properly,It's working fine, it's just youtube pushing updates to break it. They tried the same with newpipe but all they could do is ban IPs for a while.>other video platforms?Odysee and peertube are alternatives you need.
>Error 153>Video player configuration errorWhy are YouTube embeds completely fucking useless today?
