you don't need more
>>
Big fans are underrated desu
If you don't need a ton of pressure they're great at giving lots of airflow with relatively little noise
>>
>>108355189
My case only supports 120mm intake fans.
>>
>>108355212
Heh mine supports 9 140mms
>>
>>108355212
If it can fit triple 120s, you can make it fit dual 180s as long as it's wide enough
120s make more sense on a radiator, but those Silverstone 180s in the OP are great in an open airflow-focused setup

What is this abomination on the back of the fan? I expected the proponents of wire grilles to know better than to come up with an abomination like that.

I told you before OP, those fan grilles are trash and are a net negative to those fans.
You do need more.

Same, however it's because my case came out before larger PC fans were common. So I cut hole in it and put a vornado 660 in the side of it. It's controlled with a leftover arduino to have five states, off, and four speeds based on PWM duty cycle.
>>
>>108358091
>What is this abomination on the back of the fan?
They call it "air penetrator".
Supposedly it improves airflow further downstream from the fan by creating a more focused "beam" of air instead of letting the air spread out.

I'm not convinced.
>>
>>108358115
I'm skeptical about those grills too but those stars are clickbait bullshit.

It's like someone adds a turbo to their car's engine to get more top speed and them someone says it's dumb because it increases noise and fuel consumption "slam dunk, turbo's do not work!!!!!", ignoring the top speed which was the whole point.

If they were serious they would measure "air penetration" (air movement in the middle of the case) not air flow or static pressure.

They've all got the same shit grille, and there's very little practical application for this type of fan when the CPU & GPU isn't passively cooled.
Other fans can move hot air faster from the PC case.

You're the dumb nigger who believes the larger fan size will unfuck the airflow disruption caused by grille design.
A larger nigger is still a nigger. You're shilling niggerish fans.
>>
>>108358274
>it works but not as an exhaust fan
No shit.
Also screwdrivers are shit for hammering in nails.
>>
>>108358091
basically it is designed to work on the bottom of the Silverstone case with rotated motherboard but I use it in Fractal Torrent. Grills indeed make air more concentrated but obviously also reduce fan's efficiency.
But at 180mm it is not crucial because of the sheer size of the boy
>>
>>108358394
It's also a shit intake fan because PC cases don't demand that level of direct airflow, it's better to have a case fan that exchanges cooler air faster inside the case.

>>
>>108358336
>when the CPU & GPU isn't passively cooled.
Yes the whole point is to allow the CPU fan to spin down under low loads when you want a super quiet system.
It was specifically designed for the FT02 which has the AP fans at the bottom blowing directly onto the CPU cooler which is also much closer to the intake fans than in most cases.
>>
>>108358406
>PC cases don't demand that level of direct airflow
Really depends on your case design and airflow concept.
Cases like the Silverstone FT02 and Fractal design Torrent can benefit from direct airflow because they have no drive bays or other obstructions between the intake fans and the CPU cooler.
>>
>>108358451
>'It's good for this specific case!'
Good for you. The rest of the world's moved on.
>>
>>108358474
>Fractal design Torrent
Lmao, no. Especially not at the cost of the reduced airflow.
You want wider airflow coverage with large, unimpeded cases like the Torrent.

unfortunately this rotation doesn't work well for modern GPUs.
I had my 3080ti in Raven02 and flipping it to the normal position improved the temps drastically, so I had to retire the old man

Modern GPUs have the grille sideways and went to the side of the case. That orientation only makes sense if you have ample airflow so the case can suck the hot air out the top/back, and have intakes on the bottom to help it out. The up side is that they have shorter grille lengths and more "exhausts" on the side by the length of the card, so they are more efficient as hot air does not have to travel the entire length of the card.
On your pic there's nothing to pull the hot air out at the top so it just sits there, with the bottom fans pushing it a tiny bit through the top grille.

If you use a lower end card, those still have grilles set up length wise, so they vent on the back or the front of the card. Which means there's fewer venting holes but the heat exits at the PCIE slot (and at the front, unless you have some intake to provide pressure). This latter orientation is what the raven02 on your pic is designed for.

Both methods suck though, what we'd need is a radically new form factor. Honestly it would make more sense to just have a large GPU socket of a sort instead of PCIE connectors, so you can put tower coolers there.
>>
>>108358654
you're wrong because you could actually feel the air being pushed out of the top even at low speed with your hand.
The GPU heatsink just doesn't work well in this orientation, there couldn't be any other explanation because once case was turned 90 degrees temps dropped by 10 celcius in the same setup.

my first aio did this
