It's been 3 days since I'm trying to make LibreOffice Writer check grammar and nothing works. I read every forum post, ask AI, read official manual, it's just unknown bug that cannot be fixed. Is this the power of the free open source software? What a fucking joke.
Just use Office.
>>108354984I will. Just wanted to make a thread showing "it just works" retards that it doesn't and linux alternatives are worthless
>>108354965>just use officeMS is pushing web versions which are far more crippled than o/l office.Office hasn't been 'good' (usable) in about a decade.
>>108354965Plenty of just werks software doesnt actually just werkI remember when I first tried Mint and my mouse sensitivity and wallpaper kept resetting every time I booted the computerObviously there are ways around it and I stuck with it and learned the damned thing but at that point you can't help but wonder why it should even offer a GUI for the setting you want to changeAnd then you realize it stopped being "just werks" and became a question of how much you're willing to trade convenience for freedom or whatever, some stuff really has you jumping through hoops to avoid proprietary software. Of course there are reasons that are ideological rather than practical about it and I won't dismiss them but the fact remains that plenty of stuff labeled as just werking is misleading
>get a hold of an old I3 laptop>8gb. intel GPU.>mite b good to watch movies in bed>but no OS>look up good GNU/Linux alternatives>think of trying put zorin since it just werks (tm)>almost nothing werks>configure the shit out of it>spend 2 days trying to fix youtube abysmal framerate>try installing intel GPU drivers>not werking>try tuning X configs>not werking>i just wanted to watch youtube, fuck>buy a windows 10 oem key on some shitty site>everything werksthis is why linux continue to fail on desktops.in before hurrrr retardI'm a long time linux user but only for server stuff, virtualization and homelab. for day by day use I'll stick with windows, thanks.
>>108355372i wonder if its an issue with zorin since i'm unfamiliar with it, but I ran debian on shitty gear just finei think you should have tried some other distro, but then again, it's not easy to shake off a bad first impression and you can rarely avoid being caught in the crossfire of some gay distro war as a newbie to desktop linux
