Why is it so easy to get scammed when trying to go solar? Why is legitimacy so difficult to find when shopping for a solar vendor? Is the only way to take advantage of it safely to buy it from some larger entity? Isn't that defeating the purpose of "getting off the grid"? You're just shifting to someone else's grid.
>>108356336Yup, I got scammed and now pay more for electricity. My first red flag was when I asked the installers what set up they had and they were honest with me and said they will never use that shit in their house.hurrr if you want to get out of the grid you should install this 50k set up, nigga I was paying 1200 a year I need to be in my teens for that shit to be cost-Efficient. Fuck solar.
Energy efficient windows also seem like a high-pressure, commission-by-any-means scam industry.
>>108356336I'm not American. I tried looking for prices in eBay some weeks ago while arguing with some fag in this board, and I couldn't believe how ducking expensive and scammy all the offers looked. Like, if you want to buy cheap panels, you have to search through pages and pages of overpriced kits. Meanwhile, I can buy directly from some intermediaries/importers in my small south american country, and the panels are dirt fucking cheap (500W panels for less than $100 each). They also do sell kits... That you can buy for cheaper simply by selecting the individual parts from their own websites lmao.I then looked at what installers charged to install small systems (i.e., install the panels and connect some cables)... Shit was incredibly expensive for what they actually do. No wonder you guys oppose solar so much. You really are getting scammed at every step in the supply chain.
>>108356529>be retard>get scammed>don't self reflect>don't be mad at scammers>be mad at the technologydumb retard
>>108356336Because the green energy industry is a scam in general.
>>108356336>Why is everyone selling a scam a scammer?
>>108356861True.The only time you should be using solar is if you do not have access to grid electricity. Very rural locations or an RV or something. If using it for a rural site you need to spec and put it together yourself because you're going to be maintaining it yourself anyway.
>>108356336On God who really goes "I'm looking to buy some Solar panels" and is expecting to get anything but scammedLinus LTT put Solar panels on his house. They worked great. Then winter came, apparently the housing they used to secure them all was not Canadian Winterproof and all of them cracked, they are all broken and none of them work.
>>108356895Kek, can you link the video where he explains it's all coming apart?
>>108356895Another retard who blames the tech instead of their own ignorance...You do know they sell panels that can survive hails and storms, right? Of.course the panels won't survive a shitty structure. They are made mostly of glass ffs
>>108356336>WhyPerhaps because you didn't read the >>>/diy/solar FAQ?https://rentry.co/solarshit
>>108356336It's not a bad idea to build a small grid-tie system that does 800-1200W, you can almost always feed that much back in and offset some usage. It won't take up a lot of room, need an electrician, or be expensive.Bifacial n-type panels are at a historic low, as are inverters. Larger scale solar is scammy because it preys on people who don't read the fine print or are spending someone else's money (government).
>>108356336it's not hard at all, you're just retarded or low IQ (probably both)
>>108356895>Linus LTT put Solar panels on his house. They worked great. >>108356623I bought a $1200 kit. 3000kWp array + mounts + one chink inverter that takes all 6 panels. Pretty simple installation but you really have to do all the work yourself.I save about one dollar a day on electricity right now with about 60% generated getting reinjected. Gonna take a while to pay for itself.
>>108356336just do it yourself, most people are too lazy or too scared to just learn how to do it. it's dead simple and an hour on forums and youtube teaches you everything you need to know to get it done for a quarter of the price companies charge.
>>108357456not done installing windows yet, faggot?
Just synthesize you own photovoltaics. You can use the latest published tech.
