I’ve been running Fedora for 2 months and I can’t do anything without something breaking. Every time I convince myself I’ll get used to it for “system privacy,” I just end up hating using my PC. Tried running RE9 on my day off today ended up wasting 3 hours troubleshooting. Fuck Linux. Fuck every person who encouraged me to switch. You are all absolutely retarded.
>>
>gaymin
grow up.
>>
Enjoy your spyware.
You should have used Kinoite, it's literally kino.
>>
>>108357414
At this point, I’d rather have a usable computer full of “spyware” than spend hours troubleshooting every basic thing.
>>
>>108357396
Call me “gaymin” all you want at least my PC works without me losing hours to pointless bullshit.
>>
>>108357360
just do a GPU/USB passthrough Windows VM bruh, it just werks
>>
Who plays resident evil past the 4th entry. Japs forgot how to do horror after graphics got too good. Now they all want to direct a movie in video game form. There’s nothing scary about a bunch of teenage looking fags running from mumbo in HD.

Yeah, because configuring GPU/USB passthrough on Linux is so simple and totally not a nightmare that’ll break three times before it works.

Yes, we know linux sucks in many ways, but we'll take it over spreading our asscheeks for Microslop and its copilot.
>>
>>108357360
Have you ever considered the chance that it is a you problem? Seems to work fine for thousands of others, but here you are wasting more of your time complaining on 4chan.

You are the second biggest loser I've ever seen (behind Cyraxx)
>>
>>108357541
Can’t even tell if it’s any good. Linux made sure I wasted my day instead.
>>
>>108357587
Aren’t there scripts that remove Windows telemetry? I’ve been thinking about trying that tonight after switching back to Windows.
>>
>>108357615
Yeah and there are modified ISOs on public trackers for a more complete debloat, if you trust them. I wouldn't go past 8.1 personally, but that's more out of idealism than pragmatism.
>>
>>108357590
Not true. You can literally look up forums and Reddit thousands of people complaining, pasting commands into Steam game properties, and it still doesn’t work. And don’t even get me started on individual GPU compatibility bullshit.

It’s not any good. I could’ve told you that and saved your time and money.

You’re welcome.
>>
>>108357642
No, I’m not talking about modified ISOs. I mean those scripts that remove telemetry usually called something like “Windows 11 debloaters.” I’ve seen a few people recommend them.
>>
>>108357657
I don’t think that means anything when the game doesn’t run even after installing Proton.

Detransition? Nah, just defecting from pain and misery.
>>
>>108357665
Idk. I heard they don't remove telemetry completely but I never investigated deeper than that.
>>

Perfect, that covers my emotional damages
>>
>>108357689
it means a lot of people are playing it fine. it's not a linux problem. it's a you problem.
>>
>>108357753
Have you tried any of those modified ISOs before? I’m really curious.
>>
>>108357756
Don’t think so, buddy. Like I said, a lot of NVIDIA GPU users reported the same thing.
>>
>>108357590
Not op, however Linux has required a shitheap of unnecessary time wasting for me as well.
Although it was my fault, that's not the point.
The point is if you're going to go Linux, may as well go arch and only install like 3 things you're going to be using and never fuck with that set up ever again.
If you need more shit on it, buy an entire other device and install arch on that and add three other things you need to use on that.
Windows never pulled this shit with me and even though I keep wanting to go back, Linux has been a good place to learn
>>
>>108357767
If you don't know wtf you're talking about then you don't know what you're doing.
You should probs abandon Linux, forget the idea of making windows do things they are trying to prevent you from doing and buy an MacBook Neo so you can do your gay ass "browsing" while playing your iMusic or whatever it's called so you can check your email and iCalendar
>>
>>108357767
I dual-boot Windows 8.1 which I downloaded off rutracker and had no issues with it. I only use it for music production. It's actually stunning how much nicer it looks and feels compared to Linux or even Windows 10. Qt6 apps don't work on it though which is a bummer.
>>
>>108357809
Lmao, calm down, angry guy. I’ve never tried a modified Windows ISO, that’s all. Not sure what a MacBook has to do with this, but ok.
>>
>>108357851
I’ll take a look at that, thanks!
>>
>>108357360
RE9 is listed as a Platnium game on protondb, so unironically this is your fault somehow. Always some dumbass thread like this that provides no details and cannot because doing so would prove without a shadow of a doubt that you're a retard

Nah, Linux compatibility is just shit. I used Windows for years and the worst thing I had to deal with was updating GPU drivers through the official app. ProtonDB “Platinum” only means someone got it working, not that every NVIDIA setup magically works.

I try not to act like using Linux means i'm any smarter than the average person, but given that I manage to make it my daily driver, game on it, even play obscure japanese games that i could barely get running on windows let alone linux.

It's hard not to take pride in the fact that i adapted knowing people like OP exist. OP should watch Serial Experiments Lain. it might motivate him to try harder with Linux.

Fedora isn't great out of the box with Nvidia cards and plasma is a bug-ridden mess. It's very simple to set up gnome to your tastes with the extensions, just saying.

Try Ubuntu if you want to be relatively free of these issues. You can get proprietary graphics drivers during installation and not have to worry about any of the dumb shit other distros make you do just to get a working system.

That's fine, I'm just saying your aimless posts lead me to believe you'd be better off with a MBN.
If you think you're going to find some magical LTS IOT windows 8 OS that's going to do some kind of magic for you then you're no better than those criminals that pull a crime that people have been doing for hundreds of years thinking you've come up with a new way of doing it that you'll get away with.
Linux is the solution to your problem but you've already been filtered by it so...

Honestly, just switch to a Ps5 + a Macbook. It seems like you can't handle Linux, so a Macbook is more idiot proof and you have "better" privacy than Windows. And the Ps5? You won't need to troubleshoot anything there.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking.

From the flight deck, I’m pleased to report that everything is running smoothly. Our systems are operating at full performance on a 4090 graphics unit paired with an i9-13900KF, supported by 64 gigabytes of memory, all flying confidently under Arch.

We’re currently cruising at an optimal altitude of 13,900 KF, maintaining stable conditions with 62 gigs of headroom in the cabin. The air outside is running cool and efficient—typical Arch weather—perfect for a clean, fast ride through the digital skies.

All indicators show a steady flight path, and our powerful engines are giving us plenty of performance to spare. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the smooth experience. On behalf of the crew and this finely tuned machine, thank you for flying with us.

Captain out.
>>
>>108357875
Yet there are many people who needed to tinker with the settings for it to work properly. Its not a verified or officially supported game. "It just works" is rarely the case on GNU/Linux unless you use native or verified applications and y'all pretending it's not hurts the system as a whole.
>>
>>108360842
>What exactly didn't work?
OP probably used Nvidia.
>>
>>108360989
Alright... I mean this even runs on the Steam Deck. I don't have RE9 (yet), but I'm 100% certain, that I just have to hit play on my Fedora install.
>>
>>108360800
nobody is giving you guarantees that this should or would work, furthermore, gaymis relies on (are) proprietary alien code, it was never supposed to be, but you can try; defying the purpose of the free environment.
>>
>>108357851
8 looks like dogshit compared to 7, it looks like a proto windows 10.
>>
>>108357360
Ubuntu just works. No guarantees about games, but Steam has Proton for increased compatibility.
The other distros are memes and typically not for beginners.
>>
I have no idea how well Linux works for gaming or graphic design. They are legitimate usecases, just not for me.
For programming Linux is legit better than Windows, even ignoring privacy. I never tried Mac.
>>
>>108363916
Linux is fine for graphic design, but that depends on what you are doing and what you are using.
