What's the best use cases for cheap Android TV boxes?
>>
nil

You can plug a microsd card in and use it as a regular desktop computer. The graphics drivers aren't particularly good so not really suitable for gaming unless you go back far enough.

I use a fire tv stick 4k max. I mostly use kodi, smarttube, and cromite, but I can use normie apps, too.
>>
>>108359403
I hate the firestick UI -- make the app icons tiny while filling the home screen with recommendations you have to pay to watch

Not exactly cheap, but pic related flashed with the avdvplus build of CoreELEC gets you proper Dolby Vision profile 7 FEL decoding with 4K remuxes. Of course this only matters if you are autistic.
>>
>>108359412
I hate the ui too, but the fire stick is a nice balanced option. Plus I need something with widevine certification.

coreelec is a good non-android operating system for amlogic tv boxes
>>
Is there, like, a graphene OS but for android tv? Coreelec sounds good but I just want to use android apps without all the home screen ads (and the inevitable fucking around with launchers) that regular Android TV brings
>>
>>108359403
firestick running android-based tv os is good option, but i hate the ui too!

maybe i figure out how to disable stock fire tv launcher via adb and use third-party launcher

it can be turned into a low-cost home server also.
>>
the best usecase for these is hosting malware residential proxies in retards homes

GTA III (re3 arm64) 15 fps
For example PSP emulation is 4 times faster on android and emuelec

im going to buy 2x apple tvs to replace my xiaomi shitboxes
>>
>>108359065
No idea, I have usb drive size android pensticks wyse made for dell and I've never found a use for them, all TVs basically have an android board in them now anyway, You can pick them up for five bucks (Dell Wyse Cloud Connect , 8GB ram, storage dual arm) RDP clients, not much else really, open to suggestions. Thoudght I would stick the board in a drone and put something on it but never bothered.

Google/Android TV and the hardware it usually ships on is absolute dogshit. You can joke around about faggots all you want but at least the Apple TV 4k performs as a product of its price should. The Google TV Streamer has ARM-cores from 2017. It's quite frankly utterly unacceptable, it performs like ass and people keep buying that slop.

I have a Normende 50 inch UHD and I just don't care
Yes but are you homosexual or do you identify as female? Please be honest.
>>
>>108361152
What's with your hyper focus on fags and women? What's wrong with you?
>>
>>108361158
Well.... Apple. It's for fairies with tinted hair called Greg and karen in marketing.

Android tv is useless outside of widevine L1 apps

Such a crapshoot. The free lists are all same so you get low quality and freezes a lot. No clue about pay shit, although they have a ton of useless channels and each service seems like they offer the same shit.
>>
>>108359065
install stremio + torbox, smarttube and other apps that strip out retarded ads
>>
>>108362472
Just pay for unauthorized iptv services and be happy
>>
>>108362876
You mean one of the hundreds of services that all offer the same 10k+ channels?
>>
>>108359065
people watch media with them or run various android apps

theoretically they're powerful enough for a whole lot of people's computing needs but the software on these usually isn't meant for that
>>
>>108359065
i had a shield tv for many years but it finally crapped out. now i just use my ser 6 iirc and it works a jillion times better.
