I loooked up my DDR4 RAM, that I paid $100 for in 2022. It's $300 lmao
>>108359084is that a photo of you
>>108359084is anyone buying it at that price or is this like journalists reporting on ebay prices where they forget to go to the sold listings
>>108359096yes people are buying at that price, they have no choice because this isn't scalpers buying it and reselling it, this is every single retailer listing it for this price despite having paid much lower prices for purchasing it for their inventory. it's a coordinated price fixing effort with AI as a convenient scapegoat.
>>108359084meanwhile i got a DDR4 128 GB kit for $400 no tax no tip.
>>108359104well that sucks guess im lucky i also bought memory years ago
>>108359084just work 3x as much?? what's the deal???
my pc serves me well but I was hoping to do a new build this year. 5y old 9700k with 32GB DDR4 and a 3060TI.I was going to aim for 128GB DDR5 but in current situation I will wait another year
>>108359226that's good enough for another 15 years anon
I bought 64GB DDR4 for £97 a year ago and got for £240 for it a week back so I'm totally fine with things being fucked (until literally anything fails lol). I also upgraded to a 2080 Ti from a Vega 56 for a profit years back so i seem to have good luck exploiting shitty market conditions
i used the extra RAM for GLM so I'm part of the problem. Any MoE that big with a sensible amount of active params is just too slow though and two sticks can run tighter than 4
>>108359084That's the real price of ram, your money is just worth less than in 2022
>>108359096yeah i recently decided that it was time to upgrade by shit ass optiplex the first PC i put together which i'd been using for like 6 years.dropped like $400 on 64gb of DDR4 in 2 32gb sticks.
just because its listed for that much it doesnt mean people will pay for it. ddr4 is useless trash most people have ddr5 now anyway and thats whats actually worth money. i saw gtx 960s listed for more than they were worth during the gpu price hikes its the same thing its scam listings hoping someone falls for it
I'm NOT laughingthis sucks!
>>108359446$400 for 2x32gb of ddr4? you got scammed like a moron it lists for less than that in aud and aud is like 2x usd and there are multiple listings around this price and thats marked up ebay scam prices
>>108359572there really is a sucker born every minute ddr4 is ewaste and morons are paying $400 usd for it because ddr5 is expensive. indian scalper scammers deserve to scam morons im going to miss out guys i need to buy it now!
>>108359424it's just like home owners with the fuck you i got mine attitude
>>108359094>>108359084No it's not. OP is probably fat and ugly like the rest of us but he uses a cute girl photo and makes us think that he is a cute girl when we subconsciously know he is a male like us. This is the beginning of all gender confusion.
>>108359601DDR5 isn't even worth upgrading to. it makes no difference for AI, which is all anyone wants more than 32 GB for.
@grok is that true

>the great DRAM apocalypse is a $200 premium when buying a PCI mean it sucks but it's not like it's prohibitively expensive.
>>108364036Turns out the best investment was not falling for the 16GiB RAM meme and going straight for max capacity.
>>108361097so there's no ram shortage? just price fixing kikery?
>>108364611Anon.. I..
>>108364631I hate jews so much it's unreal
I still have most of an old gaming PC that I replaced with my new one I built last September. I'm scared to sell it because of how crazy everything has gotten. What if my new one breaks? I had to do a warranty claim on a teamgroup SSD and it's taken them 2 months to get me a new one.

>>108364689>>108364631>>108364611>>108364689They stopped making non-HBM ram you fucking idiots. The only reason it didn't spike sooner is that Samsung failed their HBM 3 validation the first go around. SK hynix bet it all on HBM before the AI craze so they were in a good position to pivot to only HBM. All those Hoppers and Blackwells use SK hynix RAM. Samsung said they validated HBM4 first so their stock shot up. They also didn't lose that much money from that failed HBM3 since DRAM prices shot up. But now everyone that matters is all in on HBM. Which means NOBODY IS MAKING DRAM!!!
