how do I code more comfortably on my phone?
>>
this nearly made me spit out my coffee. what a silly thing to do!
>>
Vibe coded zoomers...
>>
>>108360729
My, what an extraordinarily ill-advised thing to do. Such a… regrettable display of judgement.
>>
>>108360729
you vibe code in a natural language using your voice, duh.
>>
why is /g/ so anti-ai it's unreal
>>
>>108360729
External keyboard and monitor.
>>
>>108360729
Install Termux on Neo Store. Then, open the terminal and type
 sudo apt install gnome gnome-extras

it will make everyone in tech unemployed.
you're dumb as a fucking rock

>this is your brain on zoomer
>>
>>108360777
the moment you need performant, reliable and maintainable code
nothing worth coding can be done by ai
also ai is a slot machine that turns you into a drooling spastic who cant code anymore, like youre totally dependent on the prompt for everything like a literal disabled monkey because it spits out unreadable spagetti that cannot be debugged by anything but itself yet cannot even do that
yeah
if you disagree youre dumb and have prompt stare like a zombie, youre brain will never recover junkie
>>
>>108360780
Based
But shit, even a Bluetooth keyboard would be tolerable versus fucking OSK.
I even used the PS3 controller keyboard since it had mouse control as well.
OSKs will always be shitty input systems for anything serious. Always. Stylus input fine, finger-mashing shitty little keys or tapping is terrible.
>>
>>108361162
You can't even type capitals and simple punctuation.
Your opinion is automatically invalid, just like you are an invalid.
>>
>>108361057
Yeah very sad
>>
>>108360729
You throw it in the bin and get a laptop.
>>
>>108361162
>also ai is a slot machine that turns you into a drooling spastic who cant code anymore, like youre totally dependent on the prompt for everything like a literal disabled monkey
Most swes at bigger companies already can't code for shit because they get used to the internal tools that make 90% of tasks easy mode. Going from that to AI isn't much of a change in that regard really.
>>
>>108361057
Just codefags hardware and network shit are not getting replaced.
>>
>>108360729
Hacker's keyboard + termux + either Doom Emacs or Neovim. Use local webservers to make user interfaces.

Another option is to connect an external keyboard via a usb-c adapter.
>>
>>108361231
Isn't Hackers Keyboard abandoned now?
I tried installing it recently and couldn't, so had to get the APK and manually install it.
Every other keyboard I have used is genuine shit-tier.
Every time I see some rec, it's from a retard that doesn't actually do anything but CONSUME and it's some shitty keyboard with basically no features.
BUT IT'S SO STREAAAMLIIIINED, eat your phone fuckers.
>>
>>108360780
How does this even work. I've tried connecting a dock to my phone before and it never outputs anything via the HDMI port. Do you need some USB-C altmode fuckery?
>>
>>108361231
the keyboard popping up is annoying when you tab out to look for something and then tab back. how do you deal with that?
>>
>>108360729
Upgrade to a Maid Computer.
>>
>>108361240
>Isn't Hackers Keyboard abandoned now?
Unfortunately yes, and I have no motivation to get deep enough into android programming to update it.
>I tried installing it recently and couldn't, so had to get the APK and manually install it.
I installed it via F-Droid.

>Every other keyboard I have used is genuine shit-tier.
I feel ya, I've been recommended HeliKeyboard and it sucks.
>>
>>108361247
you need a phone that's capable of it and not some jeeted piece of shit.

I was considering opening it up to revive it and make an open source version with modern niceties while retaining full customization.
I always had fun making input systems of various kinds, including an OSK I made around my PS3 controller as an input device to PC. I reserved the 2 L/R2 keys for system inputs versus game inputs, and using those plus other combinations of buttons let me do stuff like summon an OSK, send different sets of keys, change the virtual key mapping between different keysets, etc.
Shame I lost the most up to date version when my drive died, I have most of the foundational stuff. But I long abandoned Windows and it was made in Autohotkey.

Nice office Boss. Would love to have those chairs

>also ai is a slot machine that turns you into a drooling spastic
I didn't connect the dots but you're 100% right. I just reroll and hope the AI retard will get it right this time. There's also the illusion of skill, but in reality it's almost entirely luck.
>>
>>108361441
How do you know if a phone is capable of it? It's not like they list such capabilities on the little tags at the store.

I spent some time programming on my phone because my computer broke. To me the best way was to use helix on termux. It's fine to use with the default gboard keyboard if you set .
All code editor apps fucking sucks.

because ai creates garbage and makes retards believe they can now demand more from fewer
developers.

products built with llms will probably not be able to compete with handmade products by
experienced developers long term, because people will just pick the better product with fewer bugs,
more efficient, more thought out and cohesive, especially when there are a lot of garbage variations to
choose from. users will probably just gravitate towards the best ones built by humans (think of FFmpeg, even if there were a thousand other video encoders on the market, people would still choose it because it is the best-built).
>>
>>108361162
i use chatgpt to give me an example lets say an example how do list a directory with dirent, i could chech the header myself but this is easier, everything else like logic i write manually. Isnt this how everyone uses llms?

I coded some Rust mini-project on my phone in Termux in Neovim, essentially like on that image. So I guess the answer is to use Vim.

Back when i made psp homebrews in lua and i didn't have a functioning pc i programmed on my fucking psp with no internet to look shit up most of the time. Having a touch screen to type on would have been an absolute luxury.

I've made shaders on my phone (shader editor app, no AI) But I usually only do it if I can't get to a pc (waiting at the doctors or whatever)
Its comfortable enough though

You code on your laptop in a big bed, with your wifes boyfriend.
