Everything wrong with your life can be traced directly back to this number.
>>108362090>Blaming everything wrong with your life on some external force and not yourselfLoser mentality
>>108362090But anon didn't you know? Nuclear BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD mkay?
>>108362090seems stable. what's your point
>>108362282solar panels allow one to move this external factor to an internal one
>>108362090Do you mean production is not meeting an increasing demand or what?
>>108362300In the past things got better year over year since energy use was increasing. At the turn of the millennia people wrongly decided that using more energy each year was unsustainable. The result is that your quality of life is worse than someone living in the 90s. With the only exception being areas where the same amount of electricity does more work (semis). If we JUST kept 85 to 90s growth rates (small 18% over 5 years) we'd have 41.4 mWh per capita
>>108362461the degrowthers wonbut then they also imported millions of immigrantsso technology really has to do the heavy lifting to provide a better quality of life for even more people with the same or decreasing energypoor technology never stood a chance it was given an impossible battle
How does cheaper electricity lead to more houses being permitted and built?
>>108362090Everybody already knows that the 90s was the peak of human civilization, including those who desperately cope by pretending it wasn't. There's no need to keep repeating yourself.
>>108362585energy is economy. unlike immigrants
>>108362282I'm blaming everything wrong in my life on myself and I'm fucking miserable.
>>108362555Degrowthers didn't win, docoupling is just a combination of GDP being a bad metric, paper value and outsourcing emissions to china. If we spent just 100B on nuclear every year since the 50s we would be well beyond 1GWh per capita.
>>108362609Try harder.
>>108362282Politically speaking, blaming others it is winners mentality. That is how you get the government to give you preferential treatment. Look at all the quotas, they are in favour of groups that blame others for their misfortune, not themselves.
>>108362585I'm feeling like that's supposed to be a rhetorical question and you believe those things have no connection, but at the same time the answers are so obvious for anyone unfortunate enough to come where I come from that even answering it feels like I'm insulting you.Anyway, cheaper energy affects almost everything as energy is an input cost for almost all economic activity to some degree. The wood or bricks you build a home with require energy to be "mined" and processed, and obviously they require energy to be moved to a construction site too. Same goes for concrete, the steel used in a building, the piping, the cables etc. Especially everything metal requires quite a lot of energy per unit of weight relative to the raw material costs. Then there's also everything plastic, as we produce plastic using hydrocarbons and the price of those is obviously highly linked to general electricity prices. The workers building the house need to get from and to work too, so does their food and everything they consume, and if energy is more expensive they'll require a higher pay or it'll not be worth it for them to make the effort, they got bills to pay too.And of course the really big one is that high energy prices mean that we need to build more energy efficient buildings, because high utility costs are a major problem as the general US population has recently learned. So to avoid those in the long run, you need better insulation and tighter tolerances. That drives costs up significantly. It's worth investing more upfront if the price for energy is higher because it reduces the cost of living in the long run, but it'd have been better if power prices were lower and you wouldn't need to go for more energy efficiency. So yes, energy prices drive construction costs significantly.
>>108362282is it your fault that you arent a 10/10 7 foot chad born in a rich family? lol
>>108362616Well I'm trying to try harder and balance a minimum of social and physical activities since the last time I disregarded those aspects I made things ten times worse. There's still something wrong with me.
>>108362611>1GWhEven if tech didn't improve that would be at least $50,000 for every man woman and child. There is no such thing as supply/demand for energy, energy is the input to make the economy work. Things that can't be directly produced with more energy become realistically more expense and thus become massive arbitrage opportunities.>But $100B is too much for the 50sWe purchased a liability for a comparable price, if you total all spending on roads/streets/parking/highways/defense it passes 100B by the 70s and only increases from there>>108362585>How does cheaper electricity lead to more houses being permitted and built?Even assuming we would need to financialize housing housing if we still lived in a growth economy you would have more housing due to required electrical upgrades, eventually the older houses wouldn't be wired for all the modern gadgets a house requires.
>>108362585It makes materials cheaper making building cheaper. It makes maintaining municipality costs cheaper increasing the likelihood that a division is permitted.
>>108362611read that as if we spent just 100B on nuclear waste every year
>>108362765Nuclear has the highest system EROI. You take a portion of the energy you generate and use it to deal with waste. The waste problem is already solved, and would have been solved decades ago if the well wasn't poisoned by big oil and big oil backed greens.
>>108362701You can still work out, take care of your body and get a decent job and thus be financially stable. Not having unfathomable luck in the birth lottery is a sad excuse not to try. There are people born at the same time as you that died as children of leukemia, are mentally retarded, were sexually abused or raped, their parents might have been junkies, maybe they developed a substance abuse problem in their youth. There are many who failed basic shit like high school, some who in youthful stupidity and a bad environment turned to crime and are in gangs, dead or in prison. What kind of future do you think those people have (if they have any)? Most of them are fucked. No one is perfect, you can take your shortcomings and failures, take lessons from them, mitigate them to some degree, move on and have a decent life.
>>108362282Word. I came from a middle class family but decided to push drugs for a living so life is good. I paid 3k for electricity in 2024, 3.5k in 2025, and 4k in 2026.
>>108362804
>>108362790yeah but if we run of oil we run out of microplastics
>>108362694Getting the government to give you gibs isn't the same as gaming the system, becoming rich and driving a $100k sports car through Miami and the keys to your mansion. Loser mentality
Nuclear has had clear majority support in the US since the late 90s ever with the mass anti nuclear propaganda and misinformation.I'm tired of this Republican narrative that progressives killed nuclear.
>>108362701Loser mentality
>>108362823>Yeah but impossible *red herring*(You)
>>108362837>what is three mile islandfucking retard
>>108362851Something that didn't affect public opinion as much as you like to claim.
>>108362850I live within driving distance of a nuclear waste repository and a uranium enrichment facility. what's your point?
>>108362860>YARH(You)
>>108362859really? cause there's people still popping off about chernobyl almost 50 years later. maybe you should leave the house more often.
>>108362866>YIMBY retardokay you fucking bumbling moron
>>108362282>everything is my fault!!!! I just suck and need to work harder!!!!cuck camel untermensch mentality
>>108362872Yes. Really. Are you a toddler? 1 person having a retarded opinion doesn't mean a majority hold that opinionNow my question to you: Do you lack access to the greater web? Why are you unable to look up these facts for yourself?
>>108362801Nta but I don't have any motivation to play the rigged game of life. Just because others have it worse doesn't mean I want to play rigged games
>>108362872Nobody "pops off" about the several random gas plants that exploded this year and killed hundreds. Yet most people release they suck.
>>108362903just rig it in your favor
>>108362851>3MI death toll: 0, No statistically detectable increase in cancer rates among affected population>still brought up nearly 50 years later. >>108362282>blaming everything on yourself retard mentality
>>108362282The seething and excuse making replies were guaranteed lolI came from a family of retards with no teeth, no drivers licence, no employment, and my dad was a child abusing, alcoholic druggy pedophile.I had to buy driving lessons and bike an hour to my factory job every day.(They STILL don't have a license)I own a home, and I have a wife.I've never done drugs unlike every loser relative of mine, don't drink booze either.I've held down my job for a long time and I've never been fired. (Been promoted twice)Bought my home 3 years ago and I'm paying off the last bit this year.I also bought a mobile home for my mom and sister in the park they live in even though they're parasites. They lost it anyway because they couldn't swing $400 for lot rent a month, even with 3 adults living there. There's just no excuse for being a loser but having a poverty mindset, like all my relatives.I can not FATHOM spending an entire paycheck every week or not having more money total each week than the last or suckling on Uncle sam's tits for your allowance.
Are you the anon who posted on /lit/ that cost of energy determined everything over the past 2 millenia?
>>108363324what has that got to do with energy policy?
>>108362282TRVTHNOVAretards that fell for the blackpill meme take picrel as gospel, in reality there are some external factors that influence your life in a great way and it's stupid to deny or dismiss it, however it's pointless to hyperfixate on things you have zero impact on, focus on what you can change in yourself both externally and internallynot to mention how your ancestors would beat the shit out of you and call you massive pussy if you told them that you are """"depressed""" (or whatever you call that gay shit) while having a roof over your head, king-tier food and relative security if you live in a first world countrynever kill yourself bros
